My mom is out of the country and I am looking to file chapter 7 bankruptcy for her. Is there anyway that I can do this?

Only if you are a licensed attorney admitted to practice in the Federal bankruptcy court in which the bankruptcy is filed.
Only licensed attorneys can represent somebody other than themself in a court case, which a bankruptcy filing is.
September 4th, 2010 at 5:05 pmThe only way that might work is if you have power of attorney for her and she notarizes a document giving you permission and acknowledges you are doing this for her. Even then I’m not sure that would work.
In most cases you cannot do this for someone else. I would check with a bankruptcy lawyer the first consultation is free.
