Can the fall of these car companies be an ultimately good thing?
Think about this folks. A very big reason why we depend on fossil fuels (which pollute the air and supposedly contribute to “global warming”) is because of the mega-industries that revolve around vehicles that run on fossil fuels. Maybe now, that these corporate giants are diminishing in size and in power, other companies can finally afford to bring alternative fuel cars (hydrogen, water, solar power, compressed air, magnets) into the spotlight.
It is a shame that these companies are going under and the people they work for will be out of jobs, but the USA is based on a free market system. The bigger they are, the harder they fall, and we are feeling the powerful impact made by the fall of these companies.
Out with the old, and in with the new.
So again, my question is, can the bankruptcy of car companies be an ultimately good thing?
I think maybe we are attacking the wrong end first, there has to be alternative fuel locations as numerous as petro-chemical ones (gas stations) are now, what good is a hydrogen car if you cannt fuel it or an electric car if the electricity is produced from coal burning plants ?

December 17th, 2009 at 7:02 amYou seem to think that the only car companies are Chrysler and GM. That is incorrect.

December 17th, 2009 at 7:02 amwhen Chrysler emerges from bankruptcy, they will be leaner and more ready to make what people need.
I was hoping Pontiac would bring out the Firebird Trans Am again, but I guess not.
December 17th, 2009 at 7:02 amThere would eventually be another to replace it. Life goes on
December 17th, 2009 at 7:02 amYes failure is good. Let the free market decide.
December 17th, 2009 at 7:02 ambusiness’s fail because they conduct bad business. They have over produce causing there failure. If they would have sat be and cut production until they sold there inventory the car nightmare would be over now if not close to.Just because the Government is bailing the car companies out does not mean more Americans will go out and buy these car.It is the simple supply and demand issues here.Nothing More Nothing Less
