can you file bankruptcy on medical bills?
We have tons of medical bills and one is currently being garnished and I was wondering if you can file bankruptcy on medical bills? Our total is over 30,000 Please any information would be appreciated. Thank You
Yes you can file on medical bills. But when you file bankruptcy you have to include all of your bills. You cannot pick and choose which ones you want to file on.
September 7th, 2010 at 7:37 pmActually, medical bills are the #1 cause of bankruptcy filings in the US. As the first answer stated, if you file bankruptcy, you file bankruptcy on EVERYTHING. Even your mortgage and car payments must be included. Secured debts can normally be reaffirmed in order to keep the asset securing them, but they must be included in the initial filing.
