Can you file bankruptcy on an apartment complex if you are behind on rent and be able to live there?

    No, you would be evicted and the bankruptcy judge usually accepts the landlords request to be exempt because rent is not a credit.

    bankruptcy deals with past due rent

    A bankruptcy won’t protect you from an eviction. If you owe, you go.
