   I never declared bankruptcy, so this is new to me. However, since there is a separate court for bankruptcy proceedings, you probably will need to get a lawyer since they know how the bankruptcy system works. It would be to your benefit to get a lawyer that knows their way around the laws and can manage your bankruptcy. I hear your life will be much better with a lawyer. A lawyer will protect you from the creditors vying for position to get at your money.

   Yes you can, it is called a "pro se" bankruptcy. If you have large things like a home or vehicle, I might recommend still getting an attorney but here is more information: http://www.uscourts.gov/FederalCourts/Bankruptcy/BankruptcyResources/FilingBankruptcyWithoutAttorney.aspx

   Find a lawyer who will take payment over time. I would never go through a bankruptcy without a lawyer. Having been through this myself, I saw first hand what is involved and if there is any way for you to retain an attorney then you should. I am no expert but if not done correctly your creditors may come after you and remember THEY HAVE LAWYERS.

   GOOD LUCK THERE IS LIFE AFTER BANKRUPTCY. HOPE THIS HELPS!!

   You cannot afford NOT to use a lawyer!

   If you screw up even ONE minute detail, your whole bankruptcy case can be thrown out!

   Go ahead and cut corners, but don’t cry or complain if you do something wrong.

   You might not even need to file bankruptcy go to this site http://www.besthelpfinancial.com/bankruptcy.html and read about the alternatives or if you even need to file at all.
