Filing Bankruptcy, I was offered a Student Loan Can I accept without disqualifying myself
Ok so I’m in the middle of a chapter 7 bankruptcy, and I had applied for FAFSA online for school. It came back with a Direct Loan through William D Ford Direct Loan. Now this is a government loan based on my need, not on credit or anything. Is this going to mess with my bankruptcy? My lawyers aren’t available to talk to for another few days and im freaking out. HELP

It won’t effect you. Just remember, you can’t discharge student loans in bankruptcy, you’ll still have to pay this off.

November 22nd, 2009 at 11:49 amLots of people think that once they’ve filed for bankruptcy they will be unable to ever get a loan again, and ultimately they are unable to do anything financial ever again. This isn’t always true, there are always ways to improve your financial standing, and there are also ways to repair your damaged credit rating.
