You can go to a paralegal office and file for it there, much cheaper. It will cost you no matter what.

Beware. Most fine print these days includes and agreement that you will not file for bankruptcy. I know that most payday loans include that. So, bankruptcy won't eliminate the obligation to pay some debts these days. They caught on.

Don't worry. I'm going through a hard time as well. America has, as they say, "a scary obsession with debt." I won't make the same mistake twice, though. No more credit cards from here. I deal strictly in cash. I'm not even gonna buy a car on finance. All cash.

If you cannot afford the lawyer, the court will eat you alive and the bankruptcy will be on terms mostly determined by your creditors & the court, with no input from you. Not a smart move!

Negotiate a settlement with your creditors instead. They would rather get 50c on the dollar (even over 10 years) than get nothing at all.

Bankruptcy is almost always the worst of your selection of unattractive choices.
