How do I file bankruptcy on my own?
Where do I get the paperwork and documents to file on my own? How much does it cost? Any good links to figure out how to do it yourself? What steps, etc. etc.

Very carefully.
You can get the forms off your county’s BK court website or off online places like http://www.legalzoom.com but you need to seriously reconsider this. Odds are really good that you will mess up on the filings or during the process and your BK will be dismissed. Then you are out the filing fee and all your time, and have no protection from your creditors.
Pro se bankruptcies are not for the faint of heart.

Check with nearby legal aid clinics and social services. Some charities have lawyers working pro bono for their clients.
December 19th, 2009 at 12:26 pmYou are going to have to fill out some forms for the U.S. Bankruptcy court. The link to the forms is http://www.uscourts.gov/bkforms They also have an instructions page that may be helpful. Filing bankruptcy is a difficult process I would recommend seeking some free legal consultation they may be able to help you fill out the forms. If not you can do a google search and find info that can walk you through the steps involved. Hope this helps.

December 19th, 2009 at 12:26 pmYou can file on your own but should attend a workshop at Legal Aid to instruct on how to file. You still pay a filing fee at the court. In my location it around $300.
December 19th, 2009 at 12:26 pmI can’t speak for other countries but in Canada you can only file bankruptcy via a trustee in bankruptcy.
So the answer to your question (again this is for bankruptcy in Canada) is, you cannot.
December 19th, 2009 at 12:26 pmGo to the nearest Court House, check and see if they have an open legal library, look-up bankruptcy’s . If the legal library has a copier, then copy the information that you will need, along with forms. This known as Bankruptcy per sie:
