If all my negative credit is hospital bills from when I was sick, is it worth it to file bankruptcy?

All my negative credit is from hospital bills. My car and the only credit card that I have ever had are all in perfect credit.
So is it worth it to file a chapter 7 bankruptcy? The hospital bills total over 0,000.

If you qualify to file for Chapter 7, then filing may be in your best interest….However, keep in mind that once you file for Chapter 7, you won’t be able to file again for 8 more years…If you have serious health problems and you don’t have health insurance, please consider this carefully before you file for Chapter 7.

This should not even be happening. We’re the only nation in the modern world where people face financial ruin for getting sick.

Yes, I think it would be worth it. You will have this bad debt follow you for life because I doubt you will ever be able to pay it off. After you file BR in 7 years it will come off your record. You can explain to anyone who cares that the medical bills forced you into BR. Most people understand this. Good Luck.

Have you talked to them. Most hospitals have programs that will help people with paying off their medical bills. Call them and let them know your situation. I would guess that there is more help then you are being told about.
As far as filing bankruptcy you need to know that it never goes away. 50 years from now you will run into situations where you will be asked the question "Have you EVER filed for bankruptcy." If you can possibly pay it you should.
You would be surprised at what can happen if you get a plan to pay off the debt. Is it possible to give up some things and take on extra work for the next few years to pay this off?
I don’t know your situation but if you are healthy and in a right state of mind this situation has the potential to catapult you into the financial stratosphere. Again I do not know your situation.

Do you need to buy a house or car or anything else on credit for the next seven years? If so, then don’t do it. If you do not need to, go for it. That is a huge amount of debt to have weighing you down.

Only a bankruptcy attorney can tell you if it’s worth it for you to file. You may be in a situation where you have no property or income that the hospitals could collect payment from, so no matter what they do they will never get paid. On the other hand, if you have a lot of property to protect it may be better to file bankruptcy to get rid of the debt. While the bankruptcy will stay on your credit report for 10 years, you can get credit much sooner than that, most credit you can get right after filing, mortgages after 2-3 years.
