if i file bankruptcy will it effect my wife?

My wife and I are married for 5 years now, but she is in the process of getting her green card. If i file bankruptcy will this effect the process of her paper work for her green card? We only have one bank account together, every thing else is seperate.

They can hold her legally responsible for all the bills. I do not know about it affecting her status, but since you are married they can go back on her for the bills.

First of all, start seperating your bank accounts, now before you claim bankruptcy. You are not allowed to have any money, they will take it. So put it all into Whomever you trust to be able use it or get it back when all is settled. Go get legal advice, Green card schmeen card, it has nothing to do with you.
