If you had no Health Insurance how long would it take you to go bankrupt if you incurred $100,000 in med debt?

That’s why I think everyone should have health insurance..I work at a hospital and believe me, we all pay when people don’t have insurance!

I would lose my business. 20 people would lose their jobs.

Luckily, I am one of the fortunate and can afford health insurance.

UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE NOW! We are the ONLY industrialized country without it! It has huge cost-effectiveness and productive benefits for the population at large!

One siginificant illness. My mother suffered a mild heart attack a few months ago. She spent less than one week in the hospital. Her bill was tens of thousands of dollars. Thank goodness for insurance.

My brother in law showed me the bills from the birth of my nephew. Several thousand dollars for a 3 day stay. They would be struggling afford that on their own. It would take all of their savings.

I agree we all should have health insurance, but it should not be mandated and controlled by the government.

That’s why I think everyone should at least have catastrophic insurance. I’m a pretty healthy guy and I make decent money. I can afford a few hundred bucks for a routine check up and I can afford to pay for my own eye exams and glasses, I just need a safety net in case I fall down the stairs and break a dozen bones.

I have Health Insurance that does not cover maternity. I’m currently 6 months pregnant and paying every penny out of pocket. Sometimes things happen that are beyond our control and we have to make the best of it. I have YET to file bankruptcy over medical bills. You learn to call the billing office and set up a payment plan. It may take 20 years, but you pay them a payment every month and pay it faithfully. A hospital must accept a monthly payment whether it’s $25 a month or $200. It can be done. If insurance was a little more affordable, then people wouldn’t have that problem. It’s hard having to pay FULL price for procedures during this pregnancy that insurance would get a discount on. How fair is that?

I wouldn’t not have health insurance; I cannot think of a situation where I would let myself be without some level of coverage, even if only for catastrophic coverage.

I agree that everyone should have health insurance. They should buy it through their employer or on the open market. The governement should not control it or provide it. The more the governement is involved the more fowled up it will be.
