Hello everyone. My dad used to work on a company in my country. But the company went bankrupt and he had to look somewhere else. He went to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and they gave him the job. He wants us to move there(of course hes not forcing us) but he would like us to be together. I really want to go.
So I met this cute girl and were dating. The thing is that I dont want to hurt her because she seems to be really into me. I like her too.
It is not 100% sure yet, but it is very probable.
If I go, I would go on August, 4 months from now.
In the meantime, I would really like to have a relationship with this girl. But she is not officialy my girlfriend yet.
What do I do? I do not want to hurt her. Please, Any advice?
Thank you

After having been wrongfully terminated August of last year, and being out of work for nearly 4 months with no income, my car was repossessed. On top of owing close to ,000 for that, I owe for a cell phone bill, as well as 4 credit cards, one of which I got to help out while I was out of work. Are there any other options to get myself out of debt without spending years and more money than actually owed to avoid filing bankruptcy? Some of these credit cards have gone up 4 times the amount that was initially owed. One of my major concerns is that I was paying the payment protection plan and none of the companies honored it. I would have easily been able to pay my debt had they honored the payment protection plan. I could dispute that and get the amount owed down to the actual amount, but where does that leave me with paying off a car I don’t have? Please, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m only 26 and the last thing I want to do is file bankruptcy.
I’m furthering my education and do not wish to have such poor credit for the next 7 years. How will I be able to afford rent, a car, and paying this debt off while going to school?

I was offered 50% of my current balance, but I can’t afford the payments. Is it possible that they would go any lower. Today was the first time I have spoken to them and that is what they offered, I told them I can’t afford the payments (they wanted 00 a month for four months— are they insane? If I could afford that my payments wouldn’t be behind 4 months!!!). Is it possible that they would settle for less with lower monthly payments? I really can’t afford what they offered and I want to pay them (after all, it is my debt), but if that is what it will cost I don’t think I will ever get out of debt! What do you think? I would really appriciate any responses.
Thank you in advance.

I owe 200 for fitnessfirst gym fee and they send me to debt collector since I stopped paying for like 4 months. Now they mailed me for the second time, a 30 day notice. I am 17 years old, turning 18 in three months. I DON’T have a job. I do baby sit sometimes but that’s like 50 a week. There’s no way I can get 200. I would like to pay them because I don’t like owing people anything but is there a way maybe I can talk to them to settle for 150 or less?
my dad signed it with me

I just started getting my wages garnished from something that happened 8 years ago. Now my family is suffering because of my mistake, and we are now on the verge of becoming homeless and loosing everything. I tried to file bankruptcy, I paid my last 00 and 4 months have gone by. The bankruptcy attorneys will not return my calls and my wife and I are at a loss. We have no more money and we don’t know what to do….any help?

He was supposed to refinance w/in 4 months ..did not and now the note is back in my name and my atty said to see the bankruptcy atty..he said see my div atty. I have cld attys and left online requests for atty to call. I am so frustrated. How do I file to the court to show a violation of divorce decree and get the land awarded back to me so I can clear my credit. In the meantime..the note is almost 00 past due!!
Why can’t I get an atty to call/

Here’s an interesting situation. I was out of the country and thought I paid my balance in full, but money sat in my bank account for a few months not moving. I’ve never had a late fee in my life, but I am young and don’t really have much to have credit built on yet.
Anyway, I was out of the country like I said, and the account went 5 months past due with just very small payments automatically paid. However, they weren’t enough, and it now shows up as 4 months delinquent. The late fees made it where I don’t have quite the money to pay in full, but I can get help from relatives to pay in full now. However, my account was sent to collects, but it was not charged off. The collections company said they were only contracted to help the creditor. It was not charged off.
They offered a settlement to me that is about ,000 less than the full amount, and I really need money right now. Should I take the settlement or pay in full? I am worried about my credit being hurt more, but I also spent too much money on someone I thought I was going to marry. I certainly won’t make that mistake again because now I have trouble paying for gas and food.

I have done everything I can to reduce my spending, and my interest rates (on unsecured debt), yet there are still so many demands on my income that I am still unable to meet my monthly obligations. (My VA Compensation was just "reduced" making my problems even worse). Due to the nature of my current "graveyard employment", I have been experiencing a great deal of trouble finding a second job.
Must Bankruptcy be my only solution? I entered into a Debt Management Program (to have interest reduced), 4 months ago. Until then, I had not even had a "late payment" in over 8 years (no longer the case thanks to the DMP).
I was forced to file Bankruptcy in 1999 (so it is about to be removed from my credit file), due to my divorce and excessive student loan payments.
Now I am about to "start all over again" due to my inability to obtain reasonable interest rates on my debts.
Can anyone suggest alternatives to Bankruptcy?

First and foremost I want to say thank you for all answers I recieve. This is obvisously not an easy time in life and all answers are carefully read, as I hope that you take into consideration all that my situation entails.
When I was 19 I set out to get myself a great credit score, something both of my parents could never do. And I did, I went through my credit report took off somthing that my dad had put in my name as a kid and got my first credit card, making on time payments and just having a balance of on the 0 limit. Well, then I, after my dad moved and other bad things happened in life (theres a long story there) I kept getting more and more cards I think trying to distract myself from my situation at the time. So I eventually realized that crap I was in a lot debt (00) which on my Starbucks paycheck of 0 bi weekly and rent in Detroit and car repairs, I was already making minumium payments so I moved to Charlotte NC to stay with my mother and pay this off. I got into debt counseling (which I feel was a mistake) I reduced all my payments from 0+ a month to 200. Well now I live in TN where the taxes and cost of living is lower. I sold my piece of crap car for a whooping 0 after it broke down and my gf and I have been sharing her car for the last 4 months and the budern as been great on us both.
Now I find myself so stressed. I let my dad use my eBay account after he lost his job so he could start making money to help himself live, but he sold stuff he didnt really have and now my paypal accoutn is at -00 and he hasnt paid on our cell phone plan (which is under my name) going for a total of new debt thanks to my dad (this is all dad related) to 00.
Well My credit card debt hasnt moved too much. And heres roughly where I lay now:
-00 in credit cards being paid off through credit counselling
-00 in medical bills I havent even touched (oh and I dont have health insurance either I took another job that promised more money but turned out I dont get medical for another 6 months)
-00 because of my dad and my sere stupidity
-00 in student loans (which I know cant go away with bankruptcy)
————–
Total = 800
I make 12000 a year and I cant just get another job because I dont have a car and my gf and I share one. I never thought I would consider this move but Ive tried for years now to do it the honest and hard working way and its gotten me nothing.
If you have a question go to my profile and click email me! Thanks!
I know that filing that would mean I couldnt get a car loan and some places wouldnt hire me but trust me that doesnt seem like a bad sacrifice even though Ch 7 would be on my record for 10 years. And once again thank you!

Please help me out: will my family loose the monthly food stamps benefit – EBT – if we file for bancruptcy chapter 7?
We have not started the process yet, but we already are behind with our mortgages for 4 months. We consulted with an attorney already. It’s just I forgot to ask him.
Thank you kindly.
B.
And do I have to report any changes such as no more mortgage payments to the Department of Children and families?
What could happen if I fail reporting any changes on time?

my husband and I filed for bankruptcy about 4 months ago and our landlord has given us the option to buy our house. We would love to do that because we love our house! But I don’t want to walk into a bank and have them laugh us out of the bank.
A friend of mine that works for a small loan company told me that the safest loan to give is to someone that has just filed bankruptcy because we would not be allowed to do it again in another 7 years

I purchased a Condo in Florida (investment property) at the height of the real estate market. The purchase was made with a friend as a joint owner. As luck would have it, my partner lost her job a couple of years ago and cannot pay her half anymore and is proceeding into bankruptcy.
Obviously, I am liable for the loan and am searching for any alternatives, either short term or long term. The Condo mortgages along with my personal residence mortgage is 48% of my gross pay. At this rate, I’ll eat up my savings within six to nine months. I am current on all payments. The value of the property was financed at 90%, with a mortgage and HELOC. Both are interest only loans. The current value of the property is 72% of the loan amount.
This means the value of the property is currently about 65% of what we paid.
We have been renting the unit as a vacation rental, but only have been able to rent it about 25% of the year. It generates enough income to cover about 20% of the cash outlay. Long term rental prospects are slim.
Any thoughts on how to either keep the property and minimize damage or is foreclosure an option I need to consider down the road? Is a loan modification possible, even on investment property? My credit score is very good at 805, so I guess I would sacrifice that as well.
I’m not looking for an easy way out, I just want to understand all my options.
thanks
The condo is in Panama City and I am working as an engineer in Georgia about 350 miles away. So, a business in the unit is not really an option. I guess another investor is an option. 50% ownership at 25% of the cost. That may work.
The the intent was to rent about 200 days a year, however, the rental market in this area was saturated with new condos, thus only able to rent about 3-4 months a year at best. Additionally, the with the hurricanes several years back, the insurance and property taxes more than doubled, which was not anticipated.

My husband is being sued for a car accident that he caused a year ago,for 0,000… we dont make alot of money and we recently bought our first home 4 months ago. If the plaintiff wins and we are not able to pay and he garnishes my husbands wages we will need to file for bankruptcy. Will our lender have attend the bankruptcy hearing and will this at all affect our loan with the mortgage lender? Thanks for your help!
lol..landlord, no of course not. The accident happened over a year and half ago and no, he was not hurt, he didnt even go in an ambulance and his car only had a dent in it…he is suing us for emotional damage and "physicall therapy" and loss of work…he is a total fraud and hopefully we will win in court but just in case we dont, I was just wondering…stop being so judgemental

Here’s the my situation:
1. I am about to finish a one year lease on 6/30/2010. My landlord recieved from me security deposit equal to 2 months of rent
2. My landlord is in the process of loosing the house we live in and also another house where she currently lives. She had claimed in past phone calls that the reason she is not paying her mortgage payments was only so the bank would talk to her about modifying her loans, and that she has plenty of month on the side.
3. For the last 4 months the house has been offered in a public auction at the city’s but for some unknown reason every time the house is up for sale, its auction date gets pushed by one months. I have heard these are common cases that happen when the landlord still negotiates with the bank.
4. I tried to contact my landlord 2 weeks ago several times (wrote emails, left voice mails, sent text messages) and asked whether she will be interested in extending the lease on a month-to-month basis. She has not replied to any of my messages.
Her lack of response makes it pretty clear she is not interested in extending the lease agreement, and her financial situation makes me very worried about my two months deposit.
My plan is not to pay her for the month of June and assume/hope she won’t start an eviction process since she knows we will leave the house when the lease ends. This way I will save at least 50% of my deposit.
I was even thinking of emailing her and letting her know we intend to leave the house at the end of June and schedule time for a walk-out inspection.
The house is in mint condition and identical to how we got it when we moved in (I have this documented in writing and in photos) but I still think she will give me hard times and won’t pay me back my deposit. Any advise on how to collect my other 50% deposit?
Any other tip or advise?
Isn’t her financial situation, the fact that the house have been offered in auction several times, a reason for me to claim that she won’t be able to pay me back the deposit (anticipatory breach of contract)?

I had a medical problem and couldn’t work for 2 years and really hurt my outstanding credit history. I had a ,000 Visa card debt and a ,000 Mastercard debt. I got on a payment program on both cards, offered to me by the banks. I paid both down to below the limit. The k one re-activated my account and I have continued to pay it down to k. The k account, I missed a payment, was dropped from the program and it has now climbed with late fees and penalties to 10. The bank offered to settle the whole debt by paying 10 (70%) by Sept 15th. Last I checked my FICA was 575 or so.
Here is my question? Will I have a more difficult time getting my credit rating up if I do this 70% settlement by paying 10 by the 15th or would it be better to do the following – pay roughly ,500 asap and then pay the rest off over the next 4 months? My goal is to repair my credit in the shortest time possible. I have about ,500 now and might be able to borrow 10 more but it will hurt.

I was going to go with a debt settlement company, but I am getting way to nervous about it so I think I am not going to do it. For some reason my gut is telling me not to go with them. They want their fees first before they start working on my debt which makes me think they will just take their money and run.
So I was wondering can I settle my own debt with my credit card companies? I have been reading a lot of articles that say the credit card companies are willing to settle your debt for less now so they will still get paid some of it? What is the best way to do this…I would like to do it on my own so I don’t have to pay anyone else. That way I also know that my debts will definitely get paid off. One of the issues I have though is let’s say I have ,000 on a credit card and call them and they agree if I pay ,500 of it they will mark it as paid in full. I don’t have the 00 right away do you know will they let me pay the ,500 off without fees and over a payment plan? How does all of this work when you are trying to do it on your own?
As of right now I am 3-4 months behind on paying my cards off.

Hey guys. I just started a new business a couple of months ago and am finding out that I was not financially prepared for it. I am undercapitalized. Therefore, I probably only have a good 4 months left until I can’t pay my rent and other bills anymore. Also, even if I were able to receive funding somewhere else, I no longer believe that the business is a good one. Should I file for business bankruptcy now? I borrowed 0,000 on an SBA loan that I want to discharge from bankruptcy. I would appreciate any opinions that people might have. I just don’t see a point to stay in this business to go into even deeper debt when I know it’s just going to get worse.

I have a good job now, and make pretty good money. I got all my college credit cards paid off, except for one. I was told that I can "settle" that credit card debt for approximately 0 less than what the full balance is (settle the ,100 debt for about ,650 if I paid in full). Problem is: I can afford to pay in full the whole ,100…it is already on my credit report as negative because of it being delinquent so much (several times in about 3 years with no payment on the debt for 3-4 months). Someone told me if I settle for less, it will be worse on my credit report. But if its already negative…what is the better option? Keep in mind also that I closed the account about 2 years ago. Should I pay it off fully, or just settle and save money? Will it ever show up as positive on my credit report? Or just as "closed/paid off" status. Which is better? Sorry about all the parts to my question!
Please help!!

We bought a brand new Condo/Townhome in Rhode Island in 2005.
Its in a decent area, 10 min from Providence. 40 min from Newport. 50 minutes from Boston. We both lost our jobs last November and are both living on one Unemployment check. With student loans, cars, insurance, utilities, mortgage, credit cards etc… Its all getting to be way too much and we are throwing away everything we’ve saved into this black hole of debt & mortgage interest.
So, we’ve read all about both types of Short Sales, (release of lien) etc.
Foreclosure, Bankruptcy etc…..
I know there is an alternative to rent our Condo/Townhouse out but the market isn’t looking that good for renting (to cover what we’d need for bills & to move) BUT, we want OUT OF HERE! We want to either move back home to upstate NY where our families are from or way down south to FLORIDA where its warm. I don’t even care if we RENT again. I’m SICK OF IT around here. One of the highest unemployment rates and we are depressed and miserable.
So, what is there for us to do?
we had so much student loan bills on credit cards we consolidated into a second mortgage while the market was still good. So, now we have the first home mortgage and a second mortgage. These total 0K the main problem is that we are 1 of 5 condo units. The one on the end went into Foreclosure when its owner skipped the country. NICE! So, with that unit selling for 9K we are screwed!
So we’d short sale and have to get forgiveness for K
AAaaaaahhhhhhh……………………………
If its a release of lien, I can’t afford 70K plus all my 50K in student loans and still be left with no house.
What the heck are we supposed to do?
Just want to move…..
Any help would be great!
ps- I’ve tried talking to our Mortgage Co. (First Franklin based out of CA) they are NO HELP. and have straight out told us they won’t do anything unless we are 3 to 4 months behind on payments. Of which we aren’t. We have never missed a payment.
WHY WON’T THESE COMPANIES WORK WITH US THAT NEED HELP? I DON’T GET IT…

i have 60k in credit card debt. i am unemployed, and have to move back in with my parents. i have 9 different credit cards, all with significant balances. at this point in my life i realize i am screwed credit wise, filing bankruptcy was an option for me, but i would rather settle my debt and only have my credit screwed for a few years instead of 10 – 15 years as would be the case if i filed bankruptcy. i haven’t been paying on my credit cards for the past 4 months or so because i couldn’t afford paying them, and i knew that i was going to settle, so instead of signing up for a debt settlement company and letting them wait for my delinquencies, i’ve decided to let them fall behind on my own. i couldn’t afford the monthly payment for the settlement at the time because i’ve lived on my own, but now, i’m moving in with my parents and will not have to pay rent, and can focus all my unemployment funds to getting out of debt. i do not want to negotiate with 9 different credit card companies on settling. i’d rather pay the 15% or so for a debt settlement company to do all that type of work, where i then can have all 9 credit cards settled with the same company, and only have ONE monthly payment where it could be paid off in 3 or 4 years. can anyone tell me a good, reliable, cheap debt settlement company, in which i can consolidate all 9 of my credit cards into one monthly payment in which i can afford? i know i’ll have to pay a little more for using a settlement company, but to me it would be worth it instead of dealing with 9 different entities, making 9 seperate payments. i just want to use a settlement company that i can trust, which will be able to bring my total debt down from 60k to around 30k (most advertise can lower your debt to 50%), where i can make one monthly payment. i realize there are fee’s and i also would have to pay back some money on my income tax, i’m looking for a company that would be the least expensive, and also one that is reliable and will not screw me over. please, if anyone can lead me in the right direction with a decent settlement company it would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much in advance for your help, thanks again.
