Long story short, I owe 8.84….they are asking that I pay .00 and thy will then close the account and consider it paid. I havent been to court for the small debt and this debt has been on my report for a little over 8 years. In Illinois I think debt falls off your report in 10 or 11 years. Should I let it fall off my report or pay it, hence keeping it on my report for more years? Which option makes me look good?

This is the first time the nation’s credit rating has fallen below the highest level, AAA. The U.S. had held that rating since 1917.
Americans must be asking themselves: Is this the "change" Obama campaigned for?
But the President blames anything and everything on anyone and everyone.
The sad fact is should President Obama be reelected there is little doubt for him to add to the National Debt, in just 8 years, more debt than All Previous Presidents since George Washington…..COMBINED. Does anyone wonder why America lost its AAA rating!
OH!..it was the terrorist Tea Party..No NO..it was Bush..NO NO..it was..ah..Bush senior..it was someone’s fault but surely not the→ p r e s i d e n t.’s
FACT:
The first time the US lost its stellar credit rating came under….Obama.
And while the Democrats are sure to still blame Bush….even after nearly 3 years after Obama took office….it is the OBAMA Administration that has carried out virtually everything "Bush did" to an even higher level. The National Debt and Annual Deficits under Obama are way beyond anything under Bush. Obama and Bush are almost the same. The only thing different is that Obama dwarf’s Bush in the spending area.
And many make note of some of the "special powers" Obama has maintained that the Liberals complained about when Bush was president.
Any "hope and change"….was a false promise that was based on fantasies and faery tales…
Really…!
It’s almost as if he WANTs the US to go bankrupt. We spend 43 cents on every dollar just to finance the Debt.
That’s 43 cents on every dollar that does NOT go to health care, education, Social Security, or anything else.
The US economy is bound to collapse. It’s not a matter of "if" but "when" and "how soon," if Obama’s spending goes on. Do you doubt it? Creditors state that America’s now AA+ status could be even lowered more should serious spending not cease. It is not a empty warning; it is for real!
The reason for the downgrade does not require a political genius.
S & P downgraded U.S. credit rating because the debt is so high. Thanks to the liberals , the U.S.debt has grown by nearly trillion in JUST 3 years. Imagine an Obama reelection?!?
If we had a budget that reduced government spending by trillion over the next 10 years, instead of only trillion, it would have changed S & P’s rating. There is NO doubt about it.
And Obama is attempting to this time not blame Bush but the Tea Party!! IMAGINE that…!!
How audacious!
Tea Party patriots were correct all along. ….CUT THE SPENDING!!
Jotacar→TRUST me I know quite much. I have written for political candidates.
I need be on top of things.
My job demands that I do!

What is the best way to settle on tax debt? As in settlements for paying less then what you owe.
My parents made bad decisions young in there life and had a HIGH credit debt, to get out of it my mother worked a full time job and a part time & my father for more than 8 years had two full time jobs just so they could clear all that debt. Within the past year they got it down tremendously and for the first time in years my parents oonly have to have one full time job. But now because they were making more money the IRS came in and wants 30k of it. They just got a letter saying th IRS is going to start taking money from there bank accounts.
If any one has any advice please let me know, it is greatly appreciated!
(please no smart ass remarks like: pay your debt or pointing out what got them in this situation.)

I filed bankruptcy when I lived in California in 2003. I now have gotten myself into another financial bind and am having to consider doing it again. I now live in Nevada and I was told by one bankruptcy lawyer here in Nevada that said that since I filed less than 8 years ago, I would have to file Chapter 13 . Does anyone know if this stipulation is the case for any state ? And since I live in Nevada, do I have to file in Nevada, or can I file in California?

I had a credit card go to a collector about 8 years ago. I have not heard from them in about 5 years. I need to settle the debt though in order to purchase my house. I have no clue who the company is. Is there some sort of search I can do to find them?

I just started getting my wages garnished from something that happened 8 years ago. Now my family is suffering because of my mistake, and we are now on the verge of becoming homeless and loosing everything. I tried to file bankruptcy, I paid my last 00 and 4 months have gone by. The bankruptcy attorneys will not return my calls and my wife and I are at a loss. We have no more money and we don’t know what to do….any help?

I have done everything I can to reduce my spending, and my interest rates (on unsecured debt), yet there are still so many demands on my income that I am still unable to meet my monthly obligations. (My VA Compensation was just "reduced" making my problems even worse). Due to the nature of my current "graveyard employment", I have been experiencing a great deal of trouble finding a second job.
Must Bankruptcy be my only solution? I entered into a Debt Management Program (to have interest reduced), 4 months ago. Until then, I had not even had a "late payment" in over 8 years (no longer the case thanks to the DMP).
I was forced to file Bankruptcy in 1999 (so it is about to be removed from my credit file), due to my divorce and excessive student loan payments.
Now I am about to "start all over again" due to my inability to obtain reasonable interest rates on my debts.
Can anyone suggest alternatives to Bankruptcy?

I have an old phone bill that went to collections, it was more than 8 years ago, and in my state the statute of limitations for consumer debt is only 7 years. But they are still trying to collect on it.
If I do agree to pay it off, will it have any positive effect on my credit report? Right now my report shows it as charged off, unpaid. But since it’s beyond the limit now to collect, will my credit report change if I do decide to settle the debt?

Schools, the food market, everyday people, planes… Everyone is being effected.
Screw that gas tax holiday, what will we save? 13 cents a gallon while it slowly raises to five bucks a gallon?
Even ASE are being looked at. Many independant companies asking them to use their skills to figure out something. There are predictions going around that we’ll have a major bankruptcy wave, then gas prices will finally fall in about 8 years because of alternative energy sources…
And during all this Exxon Mobile… Who has nothing to do with the prices, so they say, are making even larger record profits than last year, even when gas sales are down.
Oh I am very ungrateful when 25% of my paycheck pays for me to go to work.

It is well documented by the federal government that only the poor really try to pay their bills. Why do Conservatives seek relief from debts every 6 to 8 years.
Wouldn’t you be rich too if you went bankrupt for 0,000.00 or 0,000.00 every 6 to 8 years?

I live in Michigan and need to file bankruptcy. However, even doing that costs money that I really don't have. I know that I can file it myself and save on lawyer fees, but I don't know how hard the paperwork is to do.
I don't own any real property, nor do I have any mortgage debt. I currently do not have any income – I'm going to school. Mostly its credit card and various other stuff thats almost 5-8 years old now.
Has anyone done this before? And how difficult was it?
Or if I should pay to have it done, does anyone know of a low cost way to go?
Thanks ahead of time!
The debt amount is around ,000
