Settled credit card debt a year ago – call from Creditors Interchange about settling interest rate????

I made some bad choices in the past regarding my use of credit cards and have spent the last few years making it better. This includes settling my outstanding balances on the credit cards that I had defaulted on (it’s only fair to pay back what I owe, in some capacity, right?).

Today I received a very pushy call from Creditors Interchange telling me I owed several hundred dollars for a credit card that I payed off through settlement last year. I was calm and checked my paperwork while on the phone and sure enough, I have records of the settlement.

The unpleasant man on the phone informed me that I owed monetary payment on the interest rate (and threw out a 20% rate) that had accrued on the debt. I informed him that I had already settled the debt, but he seemed adamant about what I owe and threatened me on the possibilities of ruining my credit score and kept insisting on bank account/credit card payment information. I refused.

Thoughts?

My impression is that settling a debt effectively closes the door on future amounts that I may owe in the future for the card? In a sense, double jeopardy?

Need actual concrete answers plz?

Beside the fact of me being told I have 3 days before I’m being kicked out the house, the b1tch that’s kicking me out is forcing me down the military route, my original plans were going to Bethune but I literally have the most uncooperative parents ever, the tuition is high, and that’s school is VERY family oriented.my parents would rather smoke w33d or watch "All My Children" before it gets canceled and judge me like I was the reason they are miserable.Brief financial and current situation. . . Father is ex military, literally f***ing psychotic(surprised one of us aren’t dead in all honestly) does get a retirement check but most of that is garnished from child support (bastard child). Hasn’t had a job in 2 years and they year before that he literally had 4 different jobs(quit them) and the job he has now is a entry level job scanning papers into Xerox machine part time (really hard huh?) and wait this is the best part . . . my mom helped him get that job . . . working in the same building. My mom’s job is fairly decent, credentialing specialist, nothing close to where she should be getting for her degree, but that’s another discussion.. They have been in Bankruptcy twice and have been kicked out-TWICE!!! (and they still have the nerve to criticize me on my trivial choices)Meanwhile I scored a 74 on my asvab (i know its average) and I been going back and forth to the recruiters office discussing certain things about the Navy and what they can do for ME. They can’t offer much but I’m very limited on choice so the Navy is where I’m stuck on going. The big discussion that me and the recruiter(s) have is ultimately is that , is this my choice on going or not.I truly don’t want to go to the military,I’ve been told I have a good foundation for it but I shouldn’t go because I just don’t want to go and I have no drive whatsoever to go in enlisted. They tell me I will be miserable. I’m going to be kicked out and soon anyways but whats the point of going into the military if i would probably get an ELS (if you don’t know what that is, you shouldn’t even think of giving me an answer anyways) But if I don’t go, I’m going to be homeless soon (that’s is happening regardless)

So I need alternative options (no snarky or just plain irrelevant remarks please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Ask me for additional details

How do you find a local lawyer (UT) to do pro bono work? I have no money for a chapter 7 but need to file.?

My husband needs to file a chapter 7. We live in Ogden,UT. I would prefer not to do it pro se but my choices are limited. I am aware that lawyers are required to do a certain amount of pro bono work annually for people who can’t afford. How do i tap into this?

Should I file bankruptcy to try and get a lower interest rate on my car,or give it back?

I bought a 2008 car last year with an 18 percent interest rate.I have missed paying the car note the last few months.I am trying to decide if I should try and catch up the payments(I do not qualify for a refinancing)or file bankruptcy to get a lower car note,or just give the car back,as soon as I can buy one for cash.I want to buy a house in the next 2 years if at all possible, and I dont know which of these choices would be the least harmful on my credit.

should we file bankruptcy?

i am 22 and my husband is 24 and we have horrible credit and lots of debt. We’ve had 2 cars repossessed in 3 years and a few credit cards we cant pay. we also have loans and blah blah. i know we’ve made bad choices but how do we manage now? we have 3 kids and we are ALWAYS broke trying to just keep up and our family is suffereing. should we file? will we lose the car we have financed right now? will it really be 7 years before we can buy a house? HELP!
OK FOR THE RECORD i have my tubes tied now, and also we are military and get paid shitty. we HAVE made mistakes but all the credit cards and loans were in emergency situations.

Is BANNING ISLAM the solution?

Solutions to Islamic Terror:

1) Do nothing at all (extreme Christian/Leftist view)
2) No military action, but seal every nook and cranny (mainstream Christian/Leftist view)
3) Proactively confront Islamic countries who harbor terror camps (mainstream conservative view)
4) Nuke Mecca (anti-islam view)
5) Ban Islam in America.

Choices 2 & 3 are not solutions. Islamists realize that either choice leads to bankruptcy and ruin. Its impossible to seal every nook and cranny, and even if it was, we would go bankrupt before sealing 20% of the "vulnerablities".

Iraq, Afganistan or any other Islamic theater of war is another "bleeding" alternative, as we can see now. Because American culture believes in a lefitst-santized version of "war", we give the enemy the advantage. America soliders are not soliders, they are "security" personel waiting for the Islamist to shot him.

If we banned Islam, would we need to seal every port and plane or fight overseas? Ok…go on being PC…go on.
