I just got separated from my husband a few months ago and ever since then he has not helped me pay for any of our credit card bills. We owe a little over ,000 and most cards are unfortunately under my name because I had better credit score than him. One of the creditors started raising up the minimum monthly payment over 200% and the APR went up to 34 and I hadn’t even been late on it yet. I have not been able to pay on this particular account for a couple of months now and I’ve been getting letters where they say they can help me lower the APR and what not but first they want me to pay 00 to see IF I qualify. Would it be better to do debt settlement, consolidation or should I keep trying to work w/ the credit card company myself? And what companies would you recommend me using if any at all? Help!

i got served papers and went to court for about 00 in credit card debt.. i talked to their attorney and i accepted the debt and she gave me two weeks to contact the agency because i was considering bankruptcy or consolidation.. i do not want to do either of them after doing research on both.. i did make contact and they really didnt want me to make any type of payment at all.. he was really giving me a hard time and finally asked everything i have to pay.. i told him and he said WOW, you really dont have any extra money to pay this.. he excepted a month until i can start making more.. i have a child that will be 2 in feb and my fiance that lives with me.. i am currently the only one working and have no clue how to go about this..at tax time i was really wanting to pay it off if i could settle for an extremly lesser amount.. i have to pay off, or quite abit twoards my car because i cant make the monthly payment always.. if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated~!! thank you

I am in debt about 25k and really need to get out or I am in fear of going bankrupt. What are my options, anyone know of a good free service to help consolidation or just advice?

I will be done with paying my 4 year chapter 13 bankruptcy in August, and I am worried about my student loans that I will have to start to pay back. I have already been on a tight budget, and the student loans will be like an expensive car payment that i can not afford.

Is re consolidation the only thing I can do?

I am beginning to regret going to college, it seems the only thing I have attained from it, is debt. When I went to school I was allured to the dream of being an airline pilot. I finally got my pilot’s license, but it got to expensive, so I switched to Aviation Management. I am so depressed and mad at myself for letting this happen, and it seems like there is no way out. A few times I forgot to fill out the FAFSA so I had to take out loans to cover the expenses, or I was late getting it in and got no money.

Here’s where I am at:
1 Loan for ,000 (Monthly Payments of 476/mo); 1 Loan for 620 (Monthly Payments of 128); 1 Loan for 00 (Monthly Payments of 50), and Credit Card Debt of about 00. So I have loans totaling 420.

I also have a car payment, cell phone, however I pay no rent, but my grandparents will soon be asking for that.

I just got a new job that pays me 000 per year. So if I don’t put anything into savings I can pay off my loans in about 4 years, however when you begin to figure in my other expenses it’s more like 7 years.

Consolidation is not really an option, because the 000 is an “Education Alternative Loan”, it’s not a federal loan. The 00 loan is a no interest loan. And the 620 is a direct federal loan.

-My dilemma is that, I have a girlfriend that I want to begin a life with. I wish to get an apartment with her maybe in the next year or so. And I want to marry her.

Situation 1- Do I put no money into savings and just tackle the loans head on? I will have no money for retirement or a down payment on a house.

Situation 2- I put some money aside into savings, and it will take longer to pay off?

Situation 3- Declare bankruptcy if I can?

I apologize for this taking so long, but I don’t know what to do. Thank you for your help.

I’m out of options I need to get rid of my debt does anyone know of a good debt settlement company? I’m looking to do a settlement not a consolidation.

I am trying to write a letter to my creditors. My husband and I want to keep from having to file for bankruptcy. We want to settle our debt and just recently modified our mortgage. We do not have the money to try to go through a service provider and do not want to go through a consolidation but want to work with settling our debts directly with the companies.

Is there anyone that is doing the same thing and can share their letters/tips and advice with us?

Is is wise for me to use my mutual Roth Ira to help me get out of debt. I’m 56 yrs old and need to pay off some credit cards rather than go to debt settlement or consolidation. Is this wise?
