Why does the GOP never mention that Medicare is going bankrupt UNDER CURRENT SPENDING LEVELS?
Man, conservatives sure do want everyone to buy into the notion that the only answer to Medicare is to not have it. They go on and on about how Medicare is going to go bankrupt. But what is never mentioned is the actual end of that sentence "…under current spending levels."
Let’s remember that there are two sides to that coin. One way to deal with rising costs is to drastically cut benefits. But that doesn’t reduce the existence of the need for those benefits, it simply transfers the costs to the individual, who is on Medicare because they cannot afford private insurance. As in our current system with those who are uninsured, if those individuals can’t pay those costs, they get passed on to everyone else in the form of increased premiums and bloated medical charges (nothing like paying for a box of tissue during a hospital stay).
But the other way to deal with it– which is apparently unthinkable to Republicans–is to increase spending, in the form of tax increases. Yes, I said the dreaded phrase: tax increases. At the time that Medicare was enacted in 1965, the top marginal tax rate was 70%. Now it’s less than 40%. Of course there’s no money…we’re too busy allowing the uber-wealthy and corporations to skate on their share of the social fabric to create huge population-sized holes in the safety net.
Why don’t Republicans want to do the sensible thing and return tax rates to where they were when Medicare was enacted?
Does Bush even get it? Do Republicans see how screwed up their system is?
Major corporations are going bankrupt and he thinks the economy is strong enough to keep going through turmoil?
Corporations expanding their market at the expense of small businesses?
Should this be tolerated? In my country, corporations are taking over the services that were originally provided by small companies, so small companies are all going bankrupt…how do americans deal with this, or do they not do anything because there is a positive side to it?
Did you know you can start a corporation run it into the ground file bankruptcy, and then create a new corp…?

I knew a wealthy family growing up. The father bought the son a small business, and he incorporated it.
He then bought nice cars and other luxuries with the corporations credit. He filed bankruptcy on his corporation bought the stuff from his corporation for a very low cost, and then started a new corporation so he could do the same thing all over again.
Isn’t corporate America a wonderful thing.
Why don’t cons offer any solutions to the health care crises?
How come cons only offer obstruction and no alternative? How are we going to be able to handle over 50 million uninsured Americans? Health care costs that are sky rocketing, bankruptcies due to health care costs through the roof, emergency rooms with 12 hour plus waits for urgent problems…..
Or do cons think there is no problem and feel like sticking their head in the sand and protecting the rich and corporations is what is best for America?
Notice no solutions are being offered…come on in your own words people give me the fixes.
What should the government do so other corporation or banks don’t go bankrupt?
Should they change the laws, rules, etc
Should they supervise these corporations?
Should they take over them?
