So, the dreaded question… File bankruptcy or not?

I was kicked out of my house at a young age (16 to be exact), and the only thing that helped me not be homeless was the dreaded credit card, since there’s only so much money a 16 year old can make.

So now with the credit debt, the school loan debt, the car payments, etc etc, I am in over my head (over 15k). My question… Should I file bankruptcy or not? Also, should I file Chapter 7? Also, what would the best attorney for me be? (I was looking at Peter Francis Geraci, but I can’t find anyone that has filed with him). Also, what is the time frame i’m looking at till I CAN actually file bankruptcy (I heard it takes over 2 years?)

Please, ANY help will be beneficial. I wasn’t a "bad kid" that got kicked out into the streets… I built myself a life in a state by myself and tried making it, but unsuccessfully.

What is the best way to settle on tax debt? As in settlements for paying less then what you owe.

My parents made bad decisions young in there life and had a HIGH credit debt, to get out of it my mother worked a full time job and a part time & my father for more than 8 years had two full time jobs just so they could clear all that debt. Within the past year they got it down tremendously and for the first time in years my parents oonly have to have one full time job. But now because they were making more money the IRS came in and wants 30k of it. They just got a letter saying th IRS is going to start taking money from there bank accounts.

If any one has any advice please let me know, it is greatly appreciated!
(please no smart ass remarks like: pay your debt or pointing out what got them in this situation.)

My credit cards alone is over K, not including my house and two cars and other household expenses. I am curent with all my payments but I feel like I’m drowning in my debt and will never get out of it. I’m incurring more credit debt everyday just to live on b/c all my income pays for my bills. If I file bankruptcy, will I regret it or is this good for me? I don’t think I can file a chapter 7 so I’ll have to file a chapter 13 – I just want to get rid of all my debt and start at {content}. Please provide some good tips and suggestions. Thanks.

I am in a pickle, got served summons for unsecured credit debt, 6700.00, i am seeing an attorney wed to file chapter 7, no other choice! After i file, can a judge then request my bank statements? Reason asking, is i am receiving ssi (for real disability) and my spouse did not have his own checking account and i have been depositing his unemployment checks in mine for like 3 YEARS!
