I don’t really know what does happen. My friend is under water on her house in Las Vegas, can’t rent or sell it & has decided to file bankruptcy. So what happens to her house now?

I tried asking last night & did not get much help, all any one wanted to do was tell her to do something other than the bankruptcy – I don’t want any suggestions about short sale, or any other alternative options. She has decided on the bankruptcy & I am ONLY trying to figure out what this means for her house.

One person said that she could give the bank possession of the house during the bankruptcy & it would turn into a foreclosure? I’m not sure I understood that correctly or not. Is that right?
Yes. she has other debt. She has been living in Las Vegas for 10 yrs – of course she has other debt. She works 3 jobs & still cannot pay all her bills.
Ok so when she files bankruptcy, it does not automatically get foreclosed on…right? She has to contact the bank to start that process…. Right?
The kid – I know that. She is NOT trying to get away with anything.

Her current jobs don’t give her any time to research. I sit in front of a computer all day & sometimes I’m not busy. I’m just trying to figure out what all she has to do – like if there is another step – like what acermill said.

All my life I’ve been told if I get a college degree, any degree, I’ll be set for life. I was also told if I didn’t get a degree I would spend life struggling.

In 2008 I graduated from San Jose State University and got a mass communications degree. I live in the Bay Area of California. The adviser I had for the major offered me a job for the mean-time after grad, and here I am, two years later at the same job. Getting the same 14-an-hour pay with no benefits. I’ve been applying for jobs EVERYWHERE, every day!! I’ve gotten professional advice on how to angle my resume to each job requisition, and I write great cover letters. For every 30 times I apply, I maybe get one to two calls back. Is it just me??

I was rushed to the hospital last month and had to get my appendix removed, and now I’m going to have to pay thousands in medical bills. I need a real job so I can go to the doctor without going bankrupt

I’m starting to think that nowadays, especially where I live, getting a BA/BS doesn’t mean much anymore. That it’s all only about experience. I’m thinking about going to a lame trade school and learning to be a dental hygienist. What should I do? Am I just having horrible luck and should I just keep pushing? Or should I just go to a trade school? Please help, being extremely poor with a college degree is making me feel depressed.

I want to start off saying, I love my wife with all of my heart and soul… But lately she has become a completely different person ever since we had our baby. The lack of communication is there, she wants to leave me and the baby at the house on the weekends while she goes out and drinks. She says she HAS to get out of the area and do things with other people because she has some "issues". She pretends like she wants nothing to do with me anymore. All our conversations are, anymore, is her nagging at me about anything. I know she gripes at me because I don’t get overtime or I don’t have a good enough job to support her and her wants and how the job I have don’t make as much as the last job I had. I was a high roller at a factory before the place went bankrupt, total change of lifestyle. She constantly puts me down, I can’t help what happen and I do all that I can for my family, that’s all I can do for now because there is no jobs out there! She has guy friends, that are my friends, over at the house when I’m not there. She has other guys paying our bills, we haven’t had sex in 7 months and at the same time I find a vibrator in her drawer that I didn’t buy for her. I want my marriage to work because I remember what we used to be like before she turned all crazy. She doesn’t want to get up and help by getting a job and contributing to the house hold. All she wants to do it party, it’s like she doesn’t even care. I don’t know what to do anymore and I find myself really noticing the little lady down the road. She’s 23 and I’m 37, she’s a neighbor and a family friend and HOT! I’m friends with her husband and she used to be friends with my wife… before she went all nutty. Her young beauty seems to ease my insecurity and sadness that I have, though I know it’s wrong and at the same time I don’t think I care. They’re having some problems themselves because he got drunk one night and told my wife that she had awesome t*ts. I don’t know if I have a shot with her, but I don’t think I’m that ballsy to go that far. I think what it is is that I can have a decent conversation with someone without them yelling at me. She is ideal woman material, we have all the same interest and we have great conversations. I really started feeling this way about a week ago when I stopped by to ask how her husband likes his new job. I found myself going there before work and just talking to her. But I don’t want to have the hots for the neighbor, I want to have the hots for my wife and I don’t know how to talk to her without her yelling at me every single time. I have tried on several occasions and it seems like nothing helps. I just need some advice from an outsiders point of view that isn’t emotionally involved with me. I don’t know where else to turn. I have asked her to go to the doctor to perhaps get on some depression pills but she declares there is nothing wrong with her and I can’t make her go if she doesn’t want to. I’ve tried to approach her, calmly, but she gets mad and uses it as an excuse to leave. I know it’s emotionally cheating, the way I feel about my neighbor, but I can’t help it with the circumstances I’m under. With all the people going bankrupt and being in debt 10s of 1000s of dollars, should we bring back indentured servitude? Heres how it would work…you spend money on your credit card…if you stop paying on it, you are taken from your family and forced to work for the bank, 16 hours per day at a set 10 dollars per hour (no more interest is allowed to be added once you are a slave). The bank you owe the money to has to feed you rice & beans (because its cheap) and they also have to put you up in a place to live, but they can cram as much as 10 people in one room. During this time of servitude, you are not allowed out until your debt is paid. If you have kids, they go straight to the state and you get them back when your service is over.

I think this would stop many people misuing their credit and get them to get second jobs so they dont have to go into servitude…what do you think?

The state of MI has a situation like this now.
They have no jobs and the state has an idiot for a governor and they have cut a lot of programs in MI to save money, including the state lottery.
This makes no sense to me, because, the lottery was there to MAKE money. Now they got rid of it! WTF!
Any way, if I had won a large sum of money and the state shuts down the lottery, but they were going to pay me 0 Million or so over the next 30 years, but I just won Yesterday and today, they decide to get rid of the Lottery and they file bankruptcy, do they still owe me the money?
If so, how would they pay me now, if there is no money coming in to the lottery or where ever I won it from?

I have a Citi card with 3K debt. 2 years. For 1 year, payments were on time and above minimum. The account is now closed.
I have a Key card with 5K debt. 6 years. For 5 years, payments were on time and far above minimum. The account is open and on a payment plan.

I was out of work for over a year which is when almost all of this debt was accumulated. I eventually had to move across the country to move back with my parents. I now have a new job in a with an expensive (0/week) and long (4 hours/day) commute plus low pay. The job is in NYC and I can’t find a decent place. I’d like to settle with Citi.

Nothing is in collections though the Citi could be soon. I’m now looking for jobs abroad and want to sort out everything before leaving. If they were to attempt to garnish my wages, they would get a lower amount than I am willing to pay. 50% of my income (2K/month net) is going towards paying my debts (I have student loans as well). 30% of it is going towards getting to work. I hope it never comes to this.

I want to settle this by the end of April 09. How do I go about this and what impact will it have on my credit (I will probably return to the US at some point) and what else does it entail?

I am a college student. Directly after high school I had a run in with some credit cards. I went through a rough time, in and out of hospitals, taking classes and dropping them and dealing with family illnesses and a miscarriage… I was working two jobs and paying my bills, until I could not longer pay them. I am a full-time college student with income of about 00 per month. I am 22. I was in between jobs a few months ago and during that time went more than 30 days late on all of my credit cards. Since then, my interest rate has went to 32%. I missed payments again last month and now my minimum payment on one card alone is 473 dollars. I don’t make enough money to get it caught back up, and they are unwilling to help me. I don’t know what to do. I hate to file for bankruptcy at age 22.

I’m 20 years old, 21 in July.
I currently have about 10k in debt—I know it’s not a lot, but I also know I’ll never be able to pay it back.

I had–NO CHOICE–but to move out on my own at 18. I survived off of 4 credit cards for a while and was paying them when I had a "normal" job.

In the past year I have been laid off, I now work for tips at a hair salon which gives me enough money to live but not pay my debt.

I also have about 2.5k that is due to a college I was going to…and 1.75k to Washing Mutual because I fell for one of those money order scams a few months back–whats even worse is that the person that scammed me was using a stolen idenity so I can’t even go to small claims court. I have reported the scam to the government but they can’t help me.

So my question is…Should I file Bankrupcy? I already can’t use my bank account so not being able to do so won’t be a major shock.
In addition, my bank account which is now closed due to the scam, was joint with my boyfriend..My account, I added him later…if I file, will it clear the bad account from his name?

Everyone keeps telling me to pay it off slowly, NOT POSSIBLE. AS I SAID:

I make enough money to pay my rent and my ulilities, nothing more.

I can’t file a FASFA because my father chose to claim me on taxes although he doesn’t support me, I’m not about to sue him though or report it.

Secondly, telling me to sell my 6 year old computer isn’t going to get me jack.
Third, ITS NOT A STUDENT LOAN. I would have said it was a loan.

AS for the scam, I was between jobs and was told I was working for a charity, being that it was around the holidays I was caught up in the whole holiday spirit and thought I was helping children. I am not one to sit on the internet all day and had no idea that this was such a common thing, I thought I was working.

Where I live, it’s so expensive that many people work two jobs. Myself included. My co-worker is seriously considering filing bankruptcy due to serious credit card debt, school loans and other difficulties. But isn’t it worse to have bankruptcy on your record for 7 yrs? im 22 years old and have made a few mistakes in the past with my credit. ive never really had any guidance in financial decision making. seems like as soon as i turned 18 i was able to have what ever i wanted. i intended to pay everything i got but didnt take in to consideration that the jobs i was working wouldnt be there for very long. so ive decided to get myself back on the right track and file for chapter 7 bankrupcy and wipe my credit clean. i know it will take a while to rebuild it but at least im still young. i now have the intelligence to determine whether or not i can afford something in the long run. so i need to know how i would go about finding out every single thing that i owe so i can get rid of it all at once and not have something lingering over me after ive filed. i would also like to know how much it will cost me for a lawyer to file bankruptcy? any info would be greatly appreciated

Due to loss of both mine and my husbands jobs (at the same time), I havent paid anything credit related in over a year and a half. I had to go down to just paying the necessary bills(rent, electric, etc). Both my brand new cars were repo’d and sold as well and all the cc’s have been written off or sold by the creditors. My question is, now we are back on our feet, both working, etc. How do we go about fixing out credit?? Should we bankrupt just to get rid of the debt or should we try something else?
Also, our goal is to purchase a house in about 2-2.5 years. So i want to do whatever is best to achieve that. Thanks!

I mean the concept alone of a "country", international trade, and jobs…creates competition, separation/segregation, etc,…yet people say that’s a good thing. Right. "But it creates jobs." Yeah..and ruins environments, and pays garbage compared to what the fat cats are making.

I just think it’s sad that we live in a godless world, where totally god and moral devoid people run it all, and they also are very intelligent, so they know 1000000 things about everything, which the average person doesn’t have at their disposal, or the money..

and yet we have hypocritical people saying "we need god we need god,", yet….God’s not stopping this world’s bad guys from doing what they do, or making anything liveable or anything whatsoever.

There is no God in this world, and it’s run on very intellectual, strict, money-business oriented rules/regulations, and laws, and god knows what else…combine that with the countless of self-serving aholes that rise up to important positions that just con it all to serving themselves,…and multiply that by a billion…all the people in the world etc…

and what we have is, one HUUUUUUUUUUUGE huge huge, godless, morally bankrupt, and evil life.

I’m sorry, that’s just how I see it and i think it’s tragic.

Sure the rich and people in 1st world countries have found a means how to make this "world system" work for them, ensuring a great life, prosperity etc, …but there are real people suffering at that expense,..running the show, while they reap the benefis.

We in America are brainwashed to think that "life is good". We don’t know what’s really going on behind the scenes, so to say.

This whole world at large is just evil, or if not evil…then neutral. I mean it’s not Good. I don’t see anything working towards a greater good or benefit to humanity whatsoever.

Now that’s not always true..there are small groups, events, shows, etc, that are produced and have good intentions for the betterment of whatever but,

in large….

a small amount of really smart evil people run the show, and then it just trickles down from there on in, and they lie alot, and then the people below them lie alot, and then we’re left with a huge global society based on lies, deceit, greed, and what not.

Yet…the average person gets told they’re going to go to hell if they don’t go to church and repent of their little petty sins like not going to their son’s birthday, or having pre-marital sex,….yeah…hell….while the big boys are doing 500000000 worse things.

Right. way to put down and conditon/control the average joe, even more so than he’s already kept down by the evil powers that be.

I mean…where’s the justice in all of this? There is none, and it’s tragic.

I have a friend who works 2 jobs & her husband is also employed and they are filing bankruptcy. The thing that bothers me about it all, is that every time you turn around, they are going on vacation, and she is always taking money out of her investments to buy gifts and things like that, although they don’t pay their bills. If they are taking money from investments to buy luxuries and things like that, shouldn’t they be paying their bills instead? Won’t the courts see that kind of stuff happening? My dad has worked his whole life, obsessively…trying to do good for himself since he was a young teenager, and brought his strong hard working career ethics into his adult life providing well for my siblings and my mom. The last 10 years have been pretty rough, all and all, I know he’s wearing down, physicall and mentally.

Its hard on him because hes worked just as hard as so many other people who are retiring right now at his age. And I know there are so many other countless people who have lost their jobs and homes….and he’s aware of that too….but sometimes I know when my dad gets down….and its hard on me. Im 30….and he’s late 50’s….he tells me now and then how he gets tired and worn out, and I stress about the horrible time in my future that I will lose him….(he’s a night time drinker and 24/7 smoker). He’s one of the hardest working people I know, and I just worry. I also work with my father, we are self employed. Through the 5 years we’ve worked together, we’ve almost gone bankrupt so many times….seeing our bank account go down to the mark of hundreds…knowing how quickly it will dissipate. Right now we’re ok, we’ve brought our money in, but just never lasts. you know how that goes…..any encouraging words or wisdom/advice?? I am 21 and have accumulated some debt…not including my school loans it’s about 5,000. I have had some issues with jobs in the last 6 months, but have now resolved that issue and have even taken on a second job making my grand total of hours to about 70. What else can I do??
Also, what are some tips on how to negotiate with collectors? I have one bill in collections, and need to either settle or get a payment plan started.

I’m studying to become a nurse, however I am struggling financially and may have to file for bankruptcy before I finish school and become a nurse, will I be able to get hired as a nurse or will they look at my credit and say that they can’t hire me b/c I wasn’t financially responsible. I’m going crazy worrying how the bankruptcy will affect my ability to get a good job. Does anyone know what importance does credit history play when it comes to getting hired for medical jobs?

our coal suppliers and users, for which we depend on half of our overall electricity, how many jobs will be lost there? wonder if the coal producers such as va., west va. penn and ohio are on board with that?obama also said he is pushing for higher energy cost. how can obama be that stupid as to keep saying these things.
