Hello, I'm looking for a quality/reliable 'debt settlement company' or credit counseling in brooklyn NY!!!

Hello,

I know someone in tremendous debt, greater than 75,000. For Christmas, I would like to give them the gift of some kind of consultation with someone who can help, something like a debt settlement company or a credit counseling company, something like that. This is, it HAS to be something good/ high quality, and in Brooklyn, NY, or perhaps in Manhattan as a last resort. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!

thanks!

I got a personal loan 3 months ago to pay bills. I just lost my job. How soon can I file bankruptcy?

I’m current on all my bills so far but if I can’t find a job I’ll be behind next month. I know bankruptcy is a last resort but I want to know all my options.

How do I file bankruptcy in Southern California and what type should I file?

Hi.

I have a very good credit score. I have never made a late payment on anything in my life. However, I am foreseeing disaster and see no way out of it. My debt is about 17K in credit cards and student loans of about 10K so a total of 27K. I am not worried about the student loans, since I am in school and so they are currently "on hold" till I finish and when I am expected to pay them its only like 0 per month for ten years. However my credit cards are getting worse and worse and the only way I can make myself stop relying on them is to wipe them out. Unfortunately I have practically zero income (about 0 per month) and I am in college and live with mom. I am 24 years old. This is pretty sad, I know, but I think I have to file soon. Its a shame because my credit score is about 720. I just leased a new car, which is under my name, but again, family is supporting me. So… I feel that I should just file bankruptcy (chapter 7 is what I am thinking) and just live off what I earn for thew next ten years. I own nothing of value, and am on my mom’s lease, and also want to know if they will take away my car when and if I file.

Please, I know everyone says its a "last resort". I am viewing it as such. So if it comes to this, what is the best way to go about filing and hoe much will it cost me financially and also how long does it take? Will my debts be wiped clean? I heard that student loans don’t go away, which is fine by me. Its the credit cards that are about to crush me. I need real advice, not just empty worthless criticism. So please ONLY ANSWER IF YOU HAVE RELIABLE EDUCATED ADVICE.

Thanks guys. Happy holidays.

If you have no other choice and need to file bankruptcy, which is better chapter 7 or chapter 13?

After trying to find ways to be able to take care of our responsibilities we have come to the last resort and that is to file bankruptcy. We don’t own any homes or any real property. what I am curious about is which is better chapter 7 or chapter 13. We want to be able to start saving a soon as it done and when feesible start rebuilding credit. Our credit card debt is only 00 which is a lot, but it could be worse. We just had two bad years with this one being the worse. I am looking for advice on the best way to go between the two. Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 and why.

We are not happy about doing this as we have tried everything. We don’t have anything of value and we have tried to pawn stuff but couldn’t get .00 for most. We live very modestly. So please do not answer this question if you are going to be negative.

Thank you so much. We want to do the right thing so we can start over and never have to do this again.
Thank you so much for all that has given advice so far. I guess I need to add just a few details to make the situation clearer.

As I stated it has been a bad 2 years, actually almost 3 years. I got real sick and had to leave my job and am now on disability. My husband took on a second job a year ago. He pays child support. Between the two of us we have 5 kids between the ages of 9-16. We have two vehicles, which one is in the shop. We also are surrendering this vehicle.
We have an attorney and he is recommending chapter 13. I (we) have a lot of medical bills. After I had to leave my job I couldn’t afford the cobra payments for continued health insurance. To maintain health insurance with my husbands employment (state worker) would have cost more than the cobra payments.
My ex- husband filed bankruptcy and I did not know that anything he had when we were together, came back to me.
I never thought I would get sick and have to quit work. I was not prepared.

How much debt would it take for you personally make the decision to file bankruptcy?

I know bankruptcy should be a last resort but some people have different personal limits. I would like to know your personal answer.

What’s the least amount of debt it would take for you to make the decision to file bankruptcy? And what is your annual income if you don’t mind?
