I hate my mortgage lender (Litton) they added an escrow to my monthly payments due to back taxes, but here’s the deal…my city tax never sent me a property tax bill and when I went to inquire my mortgage company had paid it off. How the city inform my mortgage company and not me? Anyway, now my mortgage company does not want to remove the escrow even if I pay the back taxes. This is "Cow Dung" believe me I’d like to say something else. What are my options? I’m frankly sick of this company and I’m sick of the house anyway. I have it for sale, but should I get a lawyer or file bankruptcy on the mortgage. That’s something I really don’t want to do. I already have one bankruptcy in the past, but I’m really sick of Litton and their high handed tactics. I pray to God they go bankrupt and get absorbed by another Company, they are really unreasonable. I have faithfully paid my mortgage, but I should not be screwed into paying more for an escrow I don’t need and I will be darned if I’m going to stay in a house I no longer want due to real estate decline in this bad economy.
I love how people like to add their 2 cents beyond the question being asked. Was I irresponsible in my youth? Yes and apparently half of america is financially irresponsible. I learned my lesson and I pay everything with cash. Unfortunately my taxes were a little behind but not delinquent, but I always pay my property taxes. However, my Mortgage may intervene. Whatever, happened recently I was left out of the loop and the city contacted my mortgage company instead of me, even though I was paying on my taxes. And furthermore I do not like my house or the environment so why should I remain in it? Things change. At one time I would have probably stayed or stayed longer. The house has been on the market for about a year and a half. I want nothing else to do with it and I don’t want to really rent it either. Though I’d choose that over foreclosure or bankruptcy.
Thanks lake lover. Although I don’t think its fair for the tax collector not to forward a tax notice. I have always got one in the past. This year I didn’t get a tax notice and when I went to inquire and pay on my bill, it seems like I got screwed.

I was a passenger in the car that got hit i fractured 2 bones in my spine, now the lawyer is telling me that in order to pay all of my hospitial bills that i may have to file for bankruptcy as one of 4 ridiculous options, why is it that i got hurt and it wasnt my falut at all, do i have to file for bankruptcy or pay for anything other than lawyers fees help me understand this please!!!!

I’m getting ready for bankruptcy after losing my job last year in a company lay-off. I finally got all the necessary documents to my lawyer and am just waiting to hear from them what to do next. Has anyone out there been through this before and can tell me how long everything is supposed to take? I have noe idea how long it will take my attorney to actually file with the court and once he does that how long it will take to get my court date to talk with the trustee.

I filed for bankruptcy about a month ago, and paid him in full last week for chapter 7. Well my bills for my loans and credit cards are due again and I’m wondering do I still have to pay them since i already paid my lawyer and filled out all the paperwork for the chapter 7. I made an informal contract with one of my sons when I was adding on to my house. I would add on space enough so he could have a 1200 sq ft apartment, but he would have to finish it off. He put in a set amount of cash up front for part of the finishing off, and then he agreed to finish off the space with a monthly sweat equity instead of paying rent.

I agreed in the contract to pay back his initial amount if he moved out, and he agreed to the monthly sweat equity (some tiling, painting, trim work). He did move out, but he did absolutely nothing on his sweat equity payments even though he lived there rent free for over two years.

He insists I owe him the full amount he paid in the beginning. I think he owes me for the free months of rent up to what I had to pay to get his sweat equity jobs completed. I hate to spend money on a lawyer, but wonder what my legal options are. He is still insisting I have to pay him every penny, and the second part of the contract does not count. Should I pay him what I think I owe him, or should I hold further payments until we can get an agreement? (I’ve paid him about half already.) I’m in New York State.

It’s been about 3 years since I had to break a year apartment lease to move for work. I tried to talk to them to work something out and they said sorry you have to pay for the last 3 months of the lease. I didn’t have that kind of money to fork over so I had to just leave. Now they have ruined my credit score saying I owe them ,600. My rent was 0/month. I can’t get a house because of this so my question is what do I need to do to get this off my credit report ASAP? Credit lawyer? If they started renting the apartment I was in say the next month, are they allowed to collect from the new tenants and me at the same time? Is that some kind of double payment? So, I’m in a ton of debt and I can’t keep up with it.

I’m thinking about filing bankrupt.

How does this work?

Do I have to have a lawyer?

How much does it cost (with and without a lawyer)?

Do I have to know all of my debts or can they pull it up for me?

I’m 26 years old…..so I figure if I’m never going to be able to pay off all of my debt, I might as well claim it now so hopefully someday I can start over with a somewhat clean slate.

Also, what all can you claim? I have…hospital bills that have been sent to collection agencies, fees at places like..movie rental, furniture rental, etc, old utility bills, etc etc etc.

Will this hurt my chance of getting financial aid when I go back to college next year?

My wife has a Vehicle that she wrecked over 6 years ago, and she didn’t have insurance (before we met). Now we are in escrow for a new home. The underwriter wants us to settle this debt. It’s a debt passed the statute of limitations in my state, and has been charged off years ago from the original creditor, but active with a junk debt buyer. I need to get this settled ASAP because we are in danger of loosing the house we want. Should I use a lawyer to negotiate this debt? Or should I go it alone?

On Thursday I’m due to see a lawyer about filing Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. The problem is I need to try and get another car this month. Should I file bankruptcy before or after I get another car. My current car which I have a debt consolidation loan on is sitting at a mechanic collecting dust because I can’t afford to get it fixed and the debt folks wont release my title even though its a useless car. I can easily get another car with low monthly payments but will that look bad if I file bankruptcy?

the company is called F.I.R.E i had to pay them to negotiate my debt and try to lower my debt. after being in the month for 5 months i paid them about 800 dollars now i got out the program because it was too expensive and they wont give me my money back because in my contract it says no refunds. My daughter was seriously burned and nearly died. She is having numerous surgeries. Now, she is having a reconstruction of her windpipe. She was taken off medicaid because her twins turned 18. She applied for Disability and was turned down. We got a lawyer and were told on April 5 that a determination had been made but it was under review and we would know on April 14. When I called (my daughter cannot speak), we were told that her husband had to send in pay stubs from June 09 to March 10 and we would hear in 15 days. Meantime, the hospital wants to know who is paying for the surgery? I am putting out 0 a week and I am ill and can only work part time ( I was paralyzed with Guilliane-Barre last year.)I am going bankrupt. Why are they stalling when this is a life or death matter? Is there any suggestions that I can do?

Ok, I will take the blame for my credit problems. But over the past year I’ve been hospitalized several times and the combination of both credit card bills and hospital bills have accumulated quite a bit of debt. I work a job which is straight commission and because of the bad economy on top of the fact that I recently took a leave of absence from work and am collecting temporary disability I currently have about 50 dollars to my name.

In November of 2006 my 00 debt with chase bank went into collections. A year later I called a lawyer who told me that if I haven’t been taken to court yet I probably would not. Well almost 3 years later and after the debt has been sold several times, I am being sued by lawyers representing North American Recovery Corp. I was told by Forward Properties (findaccount@gmail.com) that the current owner of my debt was the lawyers and gave me their phone number. I was served papers by the local sheriffs office and am supposed to appear in court on Sept. 24th. The first set of papers said that both parties had to appear on court and then i got a letter from the attorneys today stating they requested from the judge if they could be absent and do a phone conference while I still had to go to court. Is there any way to settle this if the lawyers have it and avoid going to court? The initial balance I owed on the account was just shy of 00.00 and the rest is all late charges and interest. I’m not sure how to attack this, who I should call etc etc, without incurring lawyer expenses of my own. I don’t have a number to contact North American Recovery Corp and cannot find one anywhere on the web. The one search that came up for that name was for another North American Recovery and they said there is another one out there. The debt is orig. from ohio and I now live in florida. Please help me with this headache.
