I’ve been out of job for long time, plus medical bills and I am facing foreclosure, as well as months of unpaid c/card and one unsecured loan bills. I don’t think I can pay both mortgage and c/card bills. I want to keep the house and the only way out of this situation I see is to file for bankruptcy. I finally have good job offer in my field that i am about to accept. I wonder if I should file while I am still unemployed, or when I have a job. Thank you

I haven’t worked in about 2 years(stay at home mom), and my credit is shot. I owe less then 5,000, but haven’t paid anything for a long time. Just looking for advice on how to get rid of it, and save myself for my future.

My friend has inherited money from her Grandmothers life insurance policy. She wants to use the money to buy a house (she has a husband and a couple of kids) and that is what her Grandma wanted her to do with the money she left for her. She has a truck she wants to keep too, so she has transportation for work and taking care of her children. She and her husband both got laid off from work, so she’s been staying with a family member (yeah, she really needs her own roof over her kids heads). She almost died of an illness several years ago and she was in the hospital for a really long time. During that time she accumulated a ton of medical debt (over 0k from what I’m told) because she didn’t have insurance at the time. Should she file bankruptcy to get rid of the medical bills? If not, should she work out a payment plan with the hospital… or would they just go after her house and throw liens on it? I don’t think she has too much debt other than the medical bills. I didn’t know what to tell her to do, so I thought I throw it out to yall for suggestions. Your help is really appreciated.

We have a long time customer (who has always paid slow 60-75 day) but now owes us money over 100 days. We have kept shipping to them all along, but now have stopped. Is there any thing we can do to protect ourselves from bankruptcy. Is there anything we can do to keep from being considered a preferred vendor. What can we do now to give us a better position in bankruptucy court? Is there anything we should NOT do?
Thanks

My attorney is helping me resolve certain debts, & has asked me to give the money to him, he said he will put it in a trust account and then pay the amount owed to the creditor out of that.
I have never done this before, is this normal procedure? I feel weird about it, it is a lot of money and I’m worried it could be a scam, how do I know he will pay the amount to the creditor? What could I do about it if he didn’t? He does seem trustworthy and has been in business a long time, I just don’t know what is normal procedure.
I would appreciate guidance from those who have been through this and/or work in law.

Well I have had this friend for a long time. Like 3 months. Recently like two weeks ago he got a girlfriend. I don’t like her she may be pretty and have a perfect body and all but to me she is plain stupid. The other day when we went to the beach she recommended me an exercise for my cellulites. I was so mad I pushed her and then I went up to everyone and told them what she had told me privately. She’s a mean bitch she knows I work out. Also the other day there were about 5 of us playing monopoly and she made me go bankrupt so I grabbed the board and smashed it to the wall. This bitch thinks she can get to me and that I will stop talking to her. I’ve seen her kissing him like I’m not there. She should think about others. My friend should see she is just ruining our lives. Before this were talked so much on the phone and did many activities together but now he’s blinded by her. I think she may have done some witchcraft or something. How can I know that for sure? How can I proof to my friend that she is not the one for him.
Yall can go and trow yourselves from a 7 story building. I’m not stalking nor I’m jealous. It’s her it is all her. If you wanna take her side fine but I’m telling you it is her. She shows no respect and she’s a mean ugly skank.

I got into financial trouble after my divorce when my ex wasn’t paying child support. I am still so far behind there is no way I can ever catch up! I want to file bankruptcy, but when I called a bankruptcy attorney he said it will cost me 00 up front to file. If I could afford to pay that, I wouldn’t need to file bankruptcy! Help! Is there another way to file without paying all those fees?
Let me add that I have not been paying these creditors for a very long time. I can barely afford to pay rent, utilities, car payment and put food on the table for my kids. There is NO WAY I can come up with that kind of money!

I am really struggling to make payments on my credit cards. My credit score is already fairly bad, and I don’t want to make it worse by making late payments. Would it hurt me for a long time to settle on one of my credit cards? If they do accept a settlement, what % should I go for?

I know we’ve had Ford GM and Chrysler for a long time, but what should happen if our car companies go out of Business, and how are we going to manufacture or transportation?

Today I found out I lost the house I have had a contract on since last April (2009). I was attempting to buy a house in short sale, the house went into foreclosure and so I have been waiting a long time for the banks/FDIC to get it all together so we could close. Well, Obama signed in a new law (July 2nd, 2009) forcing people who have had their homes foreclosed to return to their homes and in turn forcing the banks to refinance. The alternative for these people is to file bankruptcy (which some have already done, and others have found a solution to just barely stay financially afloat). This may sound like a great solution for all the unfortunate families who have recently lost their homes, but in truth it is a disaster. Who is to say these people can afford or even want to move back?
In my case, the house I was attempting to buy was owned by a family who were over their head with a double mortgage. They were forced to foreclose and have since downsized and purchased a new home. Now with the new law they will be forced to return to their previous home or face bankruptcy. They will have to find a way to sell their current home, which of course is very difficult in today’s economy. The previous owners do not want to return, they can’t afford the move, nor the wait to sell their current home, which they probably won’t even be able to sell in today’s economy.
As for me. I am losing close to ,500 in money spent on contracts etc. I of course have no rights and will not be able to recoup my losses.
Thousands of foreclosed homeowners are dealing with similar situations. For some this may be a blessing if they are still searching for a new living situation. Of course this doesn’t teach any lessons other than to live beyond your means and don’t worry about the consequences because the government will bail you out. Be financially responsible and get screwed. For others they are facing difficult decisions deciding what to do with their new lives and the homes they are being forced to return to. Then for all the buyers, who have been in contract to buy these foreclosed homes and begin to repair the hole in the housing industry. Well they are all SOL and out a lot of money, like me. Believe me, with my meager salary that is cut in half by taxes, ,500 is SUBSTANTIAL!!!
So I ask you, where are our freedoms going and why do we just let the government take them? How does this stimulate an economy? All I can foresee is a rise in bankruptcy and a lot of people losing money.
Of course there are tons of other issues we can discuss that provide similar examples our diminishing freedoms, and the socialization of our country. Such as, when 80% of the general population is happy with the health care system yet government chooses to change it, control it, and force their plan down our throats.
How can anyone be happy with Obama?

From what I understand, some long time national merchants may or may not be around this time next year.
Depending on if they can do well enough during the holidays.
I have not heard any names of companies, just speculation.
Does anyone know any names of stores that may be in trouble?

I stopped paying my credit cards long time ago and 1 year after i got back on my feet I decided to contact a debt advisor and started paying my old credit cards, I wonder if it would’ve been better to just file bankruptcy than paying these credit cards since it seems that it will take the same time to recover my long lost fair credit.
