30 trillion…40 trillion?
Bush added to it plenty and Obama will explode it beyond anything sustainable.
Medicare, Medicaid and Soc. Sec. are all bankrupt so why not have another program bigger than them all?
If you believe the "deficit neutral" garbage I have a bridge to sell you.

Why does it seem like every illegal immigrant I see is getting their health care costs covered by our government and taxpayers (Medicaid), yet the country’s citizens are going bankrupt because they can’t afford to pay their medical bills, and then 40 million of them are uninsured?
Ok to shorten the question, why is it so easy for illegal immigrants to get Medicaid, but there are tons of requirements Americans have to meet before they can get it?
I work in a pharmacy, I see it every day.
Source: Myself.
How many illegal immigrants do you know? Because my half-brother’s dad is one and I know for a fact that he doesn’t pay income taxes, yet he gets free health care and free legal representation. Is that fair? No.

My daughter was seriously burned and nearly died. She is having numerous surgeries. Now, she is having a reconstruction of her windpipe. She was taken off medicaid because her twins turned 18. She applied for Disability and was turned down. We got a lawyer and were told on April 5 that a determination had been made but it was under review and we would know on April 14. When I called (my daughter cannot speak), we were told that her husband had to send in pay stubs from June 09 to March 10 and we would hear in 15 days. Meantime, the hospital wants to know who is paying for the surgery? I am putting out 0 a week and I am ill and can only work part time ( I was paralyzed with Guilliane-Barre last year.)I am going bankrupt. Why are they stalling when this is a life or death matter? Is there any suggestions that I can do?
Why did they say that a determination had been made and that it was under review and we would have an answer by April 14. They lied. Then wanted more information that they should have gotten before.
If my daughter had money to put out for medicine and surgeries, she would not be asking for SSI. She has no money at all. Without her medicine she dies
I think that Social Security is stalling because the think she will die and they will not have to pay,

Hi all.
I am 23 years old and have VERY bad credit and a lot of debt.
I had a lot of complications during my pregnancy, and was in and out of the ER 2-3 times a week for 9 months… after I had my son, a hospital representative came in the room to discuss medicaid with me…ALL this time I was under the impression that I had medicaid and I did NOT. Now I have racked up thousands of dollars in medical bills && also I have 4-5 umpaid credit cards adding up to about 00. Mind you, I have not paid ANY of these bills.
I am married, and want to file bankruptcy, but I do not also want to ruin my husbands credit…can I file for myself only??
I am just really nervous about all of this and I don’t know what to do…
Any suggestions are welcome…
Serious answers only.
Thanks all!

The federal government is spending more than we can possibly earn or pay back…what would we be willing to forego in order to turn this sinking ship around? Would we be willing to forego social security? Medicare? Medicaid? Healthcare? Government jobs that pay more than civilian jobs? Pensions that bankrupt the very companies that attempt to provide them? Since we are going to lose all of these perks anyway when the nation collapses under the weight of it’s own debt…would we be willing to "voluntarily" start cutting back on what we expect from our government now, before they decide it for us…like many states are having to do now with their budget crisis’s which are forcing them to cut services to the public.
Hard times are coming, which will make the recent recession look like good times…when and how are we going to start cutting back in order to save our nation?
To Krystal…we have never been 107 trillion in debt before, so this is a doomsday situation…each and every American owes 345,000 in debt…and it climbs everyday…just the interest on our debt alone will destroy us…this is as bad as it has ever been or ever will be and it is US who has to fix it.

My fiance recently got his credit report and has about ,000 in debt that he was unaware of. He’s been drawing disability for several years and has medicaid and medicare. The majority of his debt is medical bills that he thought the insurance paid for, but obviously it didn’t. About ,000 of it is basically identity theft. His former roommate opened up two accounts in his name and ran the bills up. We know he did it, but we have no way to contact that person. Well, my fiance decided his only way out of this is to file bankruptcy. However, he doesn’t have enough money to get a lawyer. Would he just totally be screwed if he filed himself? He doesn’t have any assets. No car. He rents his house. So, I’m assuming it wouldn’t be as complicated as it would be for someone with assets. However, I’m sure it’s no easy task either. Yes, I’ve heard the saying that if you represent yourself, you have a fool for a lawyer or whatever.. but we just don’t know what else to do. We have to get this taken care of before they start getting his pay check. He just started working again and isn’t drawing disability anymore so we’re really tight on money. Is there any way a lawyer could help him file bankruptcy and then we just pay the lawyer payments? I’m sure that seems pretty contradicting, but we could afford payments for the lawyer if we didn’t have all this other crap that we’re paying on.

… even though many of the elderly never worked a day in their lives?
I’m not saying to cut care for the elderly, but why is it good to allow families to suffer a choice of not going to the doctor or going bankrupt?
By the way, I’m a republican.
By the way, we already have socialized medicine. Over 1/3 of treatment is paid for by Medicare/ Medicaid.
