I have a few questions about their divorce. My husband and I cannot get approved for a loan on a house because his ex wife still has not refinanced the house they had bought together. Her husband makes ten times what we both do combined, and she refuses to refinance and she is continually 30-60 days late on mortgage payments. They divorced over 2 years ago, and he signed the quit claim deed. We called the title company the other day and they told us the quit claim is invalid because his name was not printed in the notary box, it had only been signed. So I told my husband I am going to file bankruptcy on all my past due debt, because I will not be able to buy a house until I am almost 30 by myself. He wants to file as well. Combined we have over 0,000 in debt between the mortgage in his name and medical bills for us and our children prior to having insurance. So can we file bankruptcy on the house? And if so what will happen to her? I am going to speak to a bankruptcy attorney in a couple of weeks to learn more but was wondering if any of you have any idea.
Also I called his ex wife to try and find out if he signs another quit claim deed and gets it recorded properly this time will she refinance and she refuses.

I’ve always known republicans to be hypocrites in the fact that they’re allowed to do things when others aren’t, because they’re always in the right even when they’re wrong. But when their own ideology comes back and smacks them in the face, forcing them to lose their homes over health care costs that they can’t afford, and they find their insurance is just one big scam, is it enough to make them smell the corruption, or do they go off and blame Liberals, mistaking their own party’s policies for that of "the enemy?" I live in Canada so I’m not faced with that situation, but my God, I sure hope that when rednecks in red states suffer, which I’m all too happy to see, they at least realize how they go to that point.

I recently had a bad accident that resulted in a head injury, broken neck, and a whole lot of medical bills/hospital bills building up. I am 18, pretty much immobile (can’t even take a shower all by myself) I can only do car trips if it’s for medical appointments, so I don’t have a job I don’t see me physically being able to do that any time soon so I can pay my med bills. They want to do a very expensive head/neck surgery on me soon and I can’t afford it/co pay/ hopsital bills etc. I am not going to be insured in another month, and my parents cannot loan me money to pay my bills. So should I file for medical bankruptcy, welfare, anything at 18? I don’t know how this works but I need to find a way to take care of these bills. Sincere advice please. Thank u for your time, God bless.
not auto. Completely my fault I fell from a few stories and landed on my head resulting in my skull crushing C1/c2 and some nerve damage.

I have about 15,000 debt between car payments and credit cards along with 0,000 in medical bills from an accident that’s left me unable to work for a few months. I will have a full recovery however. I’m hoping to go back to school, but obviously will need student loans.
If I file for bankruptcy, will I still be able to get enough loans to be a fulltime non working student?

I am considering filing for bankruptcy due to extensive medical bills. I have a car that was totalled, but I owe ,000. I had a co-signer sign for the car. Does anyone know what happends to that person after i file?
Do I get to keep the car? The car has no value and barely drives.
Also does anyone know of inexpensive alternatives to using a bankruptcy lawyer. In california we had a legal document service called "We the People" I am residing in TX.
Can i do the paperwork myself?

I owe money for things like medical bills or unpaid phone bills from years ago. How can I find out what I owe so I can start paying it off. Most debt solution places only settle credit card debt. Also one one debt my social security number was not right. Will i still be connected to that debt? I have no credit card debt and Id like to pay off these small debts to get my credit score up

I just reviewed my credit report and noticed that there are two medical bills on my report. The agency that currently has my account has offered me a settlement and is sending me a statement in the mail. I am in the process of trying to straighten out my credit score and before this medical debt showed up things were greatly improving. I would like to know if I was to settle the medical debt, would that be worse for my credit report and credit score.
Thanks in advance for your response.

Hi all.
I am 23 years old and have VERY bad credit and a lot of debt.
I had a lot of complications during my pregnancy, and was in and out of the ER 2-3 times a week for 9 months… after I had my son, a hospital representative came in the room to discuss medicaid with me…ALL this time I was under the impression that I had medicaid and I did NOT. Now I have racked up thousands of dollars in medical bills && also I have 4-5 umpaid credit cards adding up to about 00. Mind you, I have not paid ANY of these bills.
I am married, and want to file bankruptcy, but I do not also want to ruin my husbands credit…can I file for myself only??
I am just really nervous about all of this and I don’t know what to do…
Any suggestions are welcome…
Serious answers only.
Thanks all!

I have a total of ,000-,000 unpaid, charged off, bad debt in total. This amount is for Bally’s fitness, Phone bills, small credit cards, small medical bills, unpaid rent, department store credit, a lot of little things that added up to this amount. Should I continue to establish the few good credit accounts that I have, even still with these excessive bad debts or just flat out file bankruptcy and forget everything. I hear when you file bankruptcy your credit life is TOTALLY over. No one will never give you anything ever. I have a couple of good accounts but 90% bad accounts. Bankruptcy????
I AM 27 YEARS OLD, IF THIS WILL HELP YOUR SUGGESTIONS?

I had to file for bankruptcy in 2006 because of medical bills. I was wondering how long it will show up on my credit file. I am trying to improve my credit score and it is up to 685, but I think it would be higher if the bankruptcy wasn’t on there. Thanks!

We are in the process of closing on our first house and don’t want to mess this up. My husband is being forced to file bankruptcy soon on ONLY medical bills. I don’t know if the bankruptcy should be filed just after closing to prevent a lawsuit from one of the creditors or if we should just go to court and settle the bankruptcy after a judgment has been passed. If we filed chapter 13 bankruptcy, what kind of percentage of the total bills do you usually have to pay on medical bills; or does it depend on your income and expenses? Help please! Also, will our credit cards (which we do NOT have a problem with) be taken away from us?

How do they calculate the amount that the Trustee will accept for repayment? I am already paying close to 00 for my unsecured debtors. I am concerned because I am going to have some large medical bills in the near future. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I sent letters to the debt collection agencies that I owe money for medical bills (2600 across 6 accounts) to settle the debts at 25% and to remove entirely from my record. Two have responded asking for full payment, one will remove entirely, other said it would report as "paid in full". What should I do? Should I be renegotiating with them for less than the full amounts? The remove in full is tempting as is, but I feel the "paid in full" definitely has to be renegotiated. Thoughts?

After trying to find ways to be able to take care of our responsibilities we have come to the last resort and that is to file bankruptcy. We don’t own any homes or any real property. what I am curious about is which is better chapter 7 or chapter 13. We want to be able to start saving a soon as it done and when feesible start rebuilding credit. Our credit card debt is only 00 which is a lot, but it could be worse. We just had two bad years with this one being the worse. I am looking for advice on the best way to go between the two. Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 and why.
We are not happy about doing this as we have tried everything. We don’t have anything of value and we have tried to pawn stuff but couldn’t get .00 for most. We live very modestly. So please do not answer this question if you are going to be negative.
Thank you so much. We want to do the right thing so we can start over and never have to do this again.
Thank you so much for all that has given advice so far. I guess I need to add just a few details to make the situation clearer.
As I stated it has been a bad 2 years, actually almost 3 years. I got real sick and had to leave my job and am now on disability. My husband took on a second job a year ago. He pays child support. Between the two of us we have 5 kids between the ages of 9-16. We have two vehicles, which one is in the shop. We also are surrendering this vehicle.
We have an attorney and he is recommending chapter 13. I (we) have a lot of medical bills. After I had to leave my job I couldn’t afford the cobra payments for continued health insurance. To maintain health insurance with my husbands employment (state worker) would have cost more than the cobra payments.
My ex- husband filed bankruptcy and I did not know that anything he had when we were together, came back to me.
I never thought I would get sick and have to quit work. I was not prepared.

I filed Chapter 13 in 2004 while I was in the military. Now I’m out and am about 0,000 in debt for medical bills. Will I be able to file for a Chapter 7 since I’ve already filed once before?
The lawyers that helped me file the first time never said anything about a Chapter 7. They told me that Chapter 13 was the only option available for filing bankruptcy.

Seeing as to how Obamacare is heavily debated and let’s be honest the GOP haven’t put a viable alternative so what are your thoughts on some reform
What should be the main goal of health reform in the US, should it Decrease the cost of health care, Improve the quality of health care, Improve the access to health care or make most Americans receive at least basic free public care. What would it be like for the US if an Australian system like the Medicare service is implemented where all taxpayers pay a 1.5% income tax levy (with exceptions for low-income earners), an additional levy of 1% is imposed on high-income earners without private health insurance. There is also a private health system where people pay for health insurance to go to a private hospital if they wish for quicker service. Bankruptcies from lack of funds to pay for medical bills is the largest reason for personal bankruptcies in the US accounting for over 60 % of all bankruptcies, while in Australia it is almost negligible.

Our house fell into forclosure and our medical bills were outrageous even with insurence. We had file bankruptcy. Our home was up for sale for over a year. Our autistic child cost alot for special schools and what not. I find it a bad move to take our stimulus package when it comes as the government is sending it to help people. Then the bankruptcy court takes it away and puts it where? We were going to use it to pay for our childs dental work. I just think its unfair.

My wife and I both lost our jobs a month ago and now we’ve decided to head to college together.
–> bad credit car loan about to be repoed, 2 credit cards (i already been sold to collections), apartment bill about to be sent to collections, and some medical bills
Can we get enough aid to pay for college and then for my dental school IF we decided to file bankruptcy?
Also, how much does bankruptcy cost?
Will bankruptcy cover all of the things I’ve listed before?
Thanks for your help everyone.

Thanks to idenity theift i pulled my credit, i found alot more than i expected but as it turns out they do all pan out. I am thinking about filing chapter 7 bankruptcy but since my wife’s credit is good we dont want it to show on her file, heres the thing. We are young we have nothing in our name our house is owned by her parents our cars are paid off we have no loans or anything of that nature with both of our names on it I would be filing by myself with out her. All my bad credit is old starting when i was 18 and I want to get a fresh start and with all the old medical bills and things bankruptcy seems the best for our family. I’ve read alot on these sites saying your credit is there credit and when you are married there debt becomes yours, this isnt true my wife’s credit score is over 700 while mine is in the 500’s this is why i am asking i dont want it showing up on her file…. does anyone get what im trying to say???
