Okay, this is extremely frustrating. I’m a 19 year old student, who works part time. I have all-state insurance full coverage, and I drive a 2001 toyota tacoma, which is paid off. And guess how much Allstate charges me every 6 months? 0!!!!!!!!!!!! That is absolutely ridiculous. These son of a bitches are totally ridiculous charging me that. I’ve never had a ticket, never been in an accident. And I don’t care if i’m 19 that price is absolutely absurd for that car. I’m almost at the point where I just wanna go illegal and drive without insurance. I’m looking sleep every night over this I mean seriously do they think a 19 year old college student is made of money. And the funny thing is it’s under my parents policy and its this much!!!

First they broke the Heppa Law, showed me my parents accts, in a private office on a computer.2nd,I filed for perm disability,they were to stop my automatic transfer of funds to a savings(you cant have a savings going through filing)the bank did not took them 6 mo. I went without an income due to there error.3rd, this caused my credit card accts to fall behind, I could’nt get caught up4th I started a re-fi with Wells Fargo ( my house is with them)I had a 785 Fico at this time.Long story they backed out,after stating I had the re-fi no problem I have the paperwork to prove this.I now have a judgment from a credit card co,my income went from 65,000 to 12000 a yr.I now have to pay to go bankrupt so I do’nt loose my house which is paid off in 7 yrs.

I recently had a bad accident that resulted in a head injury, broken neck, and a whole lot of medical bills/hospital bills building up. I am 18, pretty much immobile (can’t even take a shower all by myself) I can only do car trips if it’s for medical appointments, so I don’t have a job I don’t see me physically being able to do that any time soon so I can pay my med bills. They want to do a very expensive head/neck surgery on me soon and I can’t afford it/co pay/ hopsital bills etc. I am not going to be insured in another month, and my parents cannot loan me money to pay my bills. So should I file for medical bankruptcy, welfare, anything at 18? I don’t know how this works but I need to find a way to take care of these bills. Sincere advice please. I have five credit cards totaling approximately ,000. My parents offered to pay them for me (and I would pay them a lower monthly installment). The question is, I would like these companies to settle for less. I have heard they are more apt to settle if they think you may file bankruptcy? I am not going to file bankruptcy.

Besides the moral factor, would they ever know/could it go against me?

To sum it up I was forced to drop out of school about a year ago because my parents went bankrupt in the middle of my first semester. I had just transferred in to my dream school (an expensive private university) and had counted on my parents co-signing a loan with me. However, they had not told me that the business they had invested thousands of dollars in had gone under so when it came time to apply for a loan and pay the university for my first semester and register for the next semester’s classes I was told there was no way they could afford it. In shock and without financial or emotional support from them I left the school and moved in with my grandmother. I didn’t handle payments with the school immediately because I had no idea how to go about it and assumed they would arrange it.

After that semester I also returned to a junior college and completed requirements to transfer in to a more affordable, state school. This last fall I began a new semester at the new university feeling excited to be back in school. However, now that it is time to register for the upcoming semester’s classes I am being told that without the transcript from the first university I cannot come back to school in the Spring (the requirements for transfer students is to submit ALL transcripts from previously attended schools by the Spring) I contacted the previously attended school to discover I had been put in collections (notices had been sent to my parents home, warning of this, and my parents had never told me). They refuse to give me a transcript without paying the amount in full which is over 10,000 dollars. I have set up a payment plan with the collections agency but again, without paying it all at once, I will not get the transcript and therefore cannot finish school at the university I currently attend. I have tried applying for a loan but as a student I do not qualify for that amount without a cosigner, which I do not have. I don’t know what to do…I have tried contacting everyone imaginable, the president of the previous university, counselors, the head of admissions at my new school, and family members but no on offers me any help or alternatives. I feel so incredibly helpless and all I want to do is finish school.

Does any one know of a lender that approves student loans without a co-signer? Should I file for bankruptcy? Contact a talk show and see if they’ll give me money?? I’D DO ANYTHING TO FINISH SCHOOL! PLEASE HELP!!

I am not eligible to receive a student loan by myself because of my young credit of only about a year even tho I have an excellent score.
I am not able to have my parents cosign for me because they are coming out of bankruptcy a little over a year out and have re established their score. but the loan companies and banks say it needs to be 2 years. I recently transfered to a very expensive school. I did receive a scholarship, but it doesn’t quite cover the cost, which including housing is around 40k per year. I have excellent grades deans and presidents list every quarter of my 3 year length college career.
But what I really do not understand is how on a deferred student loan you are required to have a co-signer when they can be removed as your co signer after 18- 24 months.
This does not make much sense to me and if anyone has any kind of alternative ideas comments or solutions I would appreciate everything I can get my hands on.

Thanks to idenity theift i pulled my credit, i found alot more than i expected but as it turns out they do all pan out. I am thinking about filing chapter 7 bankruptcy but since my wife’s credit is good we dont want it to show on her file, heres the thing. We are young we have nothing in our name our house is owned by her parents our cars are paid off we have no loans or anything of that nature with both of our names on it I would be filing by myself with out her. I’ve read alot on these sites saying your credit is there credit and when you are married there debt becomes yours, this isnt true my wife’s credit score is over 700 while mine is in the 500’s this is why i am asking i dont want it showing up on her file…. does anyone get what im trying to say???

i have 60k in credit card debt. i am unemployed, and have to move back in with my parents. i have 9 different credit cards, all with significant balances. at this point in my life i realize i am screwed credit wise, filing bankruptcy was an option for me, but i would rather settle my debt and only have my credit screwed for a few years instead of 10 – 15 years as would be the case if i filed bankruptcy. i haven’t been paying on my credit cards for the past 4 months or so because i couldn’t afford paying them, and i knew that i was going to settle, so instead of signing up for a debt settlement company and letting them wait for my delinquencies, i’ve decided to let them fall behind on my own. i couldn’t afford the monthly payment for the settlement at the time because i’ve lived on my own, but now, i’m moving in with my parents and will not have to pay rent, and can focus all my unemployment funds to getting out of debt. i do not want to negotiate with 9 different credit card companies on settling. i’d rather pay the 15% or so for a debt settlement company to do all that type of work, where i then can have all 9 credit cards settled with the same company, and only have ONE monthly payment where it could be paid off in 3 or 4 years. can anyone tell me a good, reliable, cheap debt settlement company, in which i can consolidate all 9 of my credit cards into one monthly payment in which i can afford? i know i’ll have to pay a little more for using a settlement company, but to me it would be worth it instead of dealing with 9 different entities, making 9 seperate payments. i just want to use a settlement company that i can trust, which will be able to bring my total debt down from 60k to around 30k (most advertise can lower your debt to 50%), where i can make one monthly payment. i realize there are fee’s and i also would have to pay back some money on my income tax, i’m looking for a company that would be the least expensive, and also one that is reliable and will not screw me over. please, if anyone can lead me in the right direction with a decent settlement company it would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much in advance for your help, thanks again.

My parents passed away and left their house to my sister and I. I wanted to buy her half but the sale is bogged down at the title company because she filed bankruptcy 10 years ago and her home was foreclosed on. She owes a certain amount plus interest. Does she have to pay this? Does this mean there is a lien on our house?

We are filing bankruptcy due to high debt. We own our home which we are going to try to sell…if not, then we are going to do a short sale. We’ve NEVER been late on any payment (both mortgage or bills) but are struggling each month and it’s ruining our lives. My question is, every one requires a credit check these days (to rent). How do we find a place to live? I want to keep my children enrolled in the school but the other alternative would be to separate living arrangements and move to our parents homes (I wont live with my in laws & my husband wont live with mine. We can rent a house for what an apartment goes for in another city. How do we get a landlord to look past the bankruptcy and see that before it, we made every payment on time (while struggling to do so). We could easily make the rent (minus all the extra debt we had).

I have been sick over a year. I have been battling it out with social security and have not received any income since my illness. I do not own any property, not even a car. It got repossessed during my illness. I had to break my lease and stop paying my credit cards. My total debt is around 80K. My credit is devastated. I found out my former landlord intends on getting a judgement. I have no money, but am allowed to live for free right now because of my parents. I’m 26. I went to law school for 2 years before I got sick. I bought a NOLO book on bankruptcy, but it seems like the process is stressful and confusing. I don’t have the money to hire an attorney. Nobody else has tried to sue me yet. My family said they would pay up to 2K for a bankruptcy lawyer as like a birthday/christmas present, but I feel bad because they have already been paying for so much (my medical bills, me living in their house). Should I file this myself, wait, or get the attorney? There is no way I can pay all these people back at this point.

I am bankrupt. I have way too much debt and unemployed along with a long term medical condition. I get 50 calls a day by creditors and i speak rudely to collection agency reps saying, "go fk yourself. eat sht and die"

My dad works for GM and since the news that GM may declare bankruptcy, both of my parents have been worried. What are the chances that GM will go bankrupt?

I was on the verge of Bankruptcy a couple years ago and my parents generously offered to allow me to move back home for a year to get my credit squared away.

In that year, I managed to settle my debt with almost all my creditors for about 1/2 to 2/3rds of the orginal debt. For example, my debt with one credit card was about ,800 and I settled for ,000 and paid it off.

A year or so later, I’m starting to receive letters from different creditors stating that I owed now 0.00 to them as they’ve bought the balance of my debt from the last collection agency.

Is this legal? Why should I bother settling if they can turn right around and make the pay the full balance anyway? I live in the State of Oklahoma if that matters.

I am currently living out of the country to help my in-laws while they are experiencing some medical problems. I want to know if my parents can file bankruptcy for me if they have power of attorney (in the state of GA)?
