It seems quite elementary to me, cut spending. Between Bush and Obama the federal government has expanded geometrically. I would post a link, but then the question will never enter the queue.

The Democratic candidate has apparently won the New York special election for Congress by campaigning on a platform of kicking the can down the road. Apparently, demagogic attacks on Paul Ryan’s proposal to save Medicare by the Democrat candidate were the deciding issue.

I am certainly no fan of the Paul Ryan budget. It is deeply irresponsible to wait to balance the budget in 25 years. The government should cut its spending enough right now to have a balanced budget. If that is not possible for some reason (actually, it is, so long as Congress refuses to raise the debt limit), then the goal should be to balance the budget within a few years (the only budget plan that balances the budget within 5 years is the great Senator from Kentucky Rand Paul’s plan).

Yet, although I am no fan of Paul Ryan or his big-spending budget, it is disturbing that the Demagogic Party can now win elections in safe Republican districts by attacking any efforts to fix the problem and denying the very existence of the problem itself. If this continues, this country is doomed to bankruptcy.

If the American people elect extremists who want to bankrupt our country, then the only conclusion any reasonable person can draw is that democracy is an unworkable system and that we need to find some alternative. Already in Europe, efforts to fix the fiscal crises in those nations have led to riots (from Greece to France to the UK to Spain). In past generations, people throughout the West have elected irresponsible politicians who made promises on behalf of future generations (us) that could not be kept. Now when the bills have come due, it seems that demagogues now win elections by running on a platform of bankrupting their country. If the world’s democracies go bankrupt because the voters elected reckless demagogues to office, I don’t think any country will become a democracy again for a very long time. When democracy failed in Athens, it was over 2000 years later before anybody tried democracy again.

There is plenty of room for reasonable differences of opinion in a functioning democracy. However, there can be no room for fanatics who advocate bankrupting their own country and if such candidates win elections, that country is doomed.

Yea, that played a big part in it. But ultimately Greece is bankrupt because they are corrupt and didn’t cut their spending. I mean they were suppose to, but didn’t. So I have no clue why all the Euros always blame it on the global financial crisis. Other countries managed not to go bankrupt, but they kept on partying over there like it was Disneyland.

The politicians there were telling their people years ago that other countries are not responsible for another country’s debt and that they won’t bail them out. That was pretty much what they agreed on. So how come now they are bailing them out if they were saying before that they wouldn’t? I mean ultimately the richer countries give their people’s money away to Greece. Who knows if other countries follow.

So why didn’t they just kick them out? That would have been the easiest and cheapest way to get rid of the problem. If you are not consequential, it creates a moral hazard. And that is exactly what happened here. I really don’t think they should pay and am surprised how uneducated Europeans are. They always act so smart on this forum, but meanwhile their governments are giving their money away.

America is a country based on debt, your debt the national debt its all the same! You cant control your own silly spending but when politicians do it you feign surprise? You were not surprised when the new highway was paved or when supplies came in after the disaster. Taxes – are one of the biggest scams that the American people seem to keep falling for over and over again with any protest. The politicians propose a tax hike or make up some kind of new tax and the American people are stupid enough to pay it. Politicians love to develop new ways to make a cash cow or slush fund for themselves to have monies available for their greedy selves to do what they wish through taxation. The question is, what is our taxes really being spent on? The politicians never show you where the money went, or what they did with it. However, our government wants to know exactly how much we make as earned income, tax us on what we me, tax us again for what we buy, tax us again when someone inherits our money, and taxes again if we invest our already taxed money on America’s future through investments called capitol gains tax. Maybe, it is about time we audit our government and find out exactly what they’re spending our money on. Most likely, they wouldn’t tell us the truth anyway. If you think how much one working individual pays in taxes each and every single day, multiply that by the number of people working in America and you have an overwhelming amount of taxpayer money being handed over to the U.S. government each day. What pisses me off even more is how the U.S. government spends it.

What happens if Americans refused to work and protest 24/7 without any tax revenue going into our lovely government? Maybe that will get the politician’s attention? It is only a matter of time, people will revolt and say screw it, why even go to work anymore when Uncle same is on the take, enough is enough.
