I’ve heard about these guys on the net and on the radio. If you have over K in debt, they settle with your creditors for a lower amount. Has anyone tried them? Can it put you in worse financial shape than if you try to pay off your debts on your own?
I must listen to at least 20 to 30 ads everyday on the radio about "secrets that the credit card companies don’t want you to know". I don’t have any debt, but can someone please fill me in?

In my area the CEP of Toyota has taken out a full page ad on the NY times asking Toyota owners from 2001 to present to come in for a replacement pedal as well as paying for prime time air on the radio to personally apologize.
Do they want to go bankrupt? This is not how a corporation should handle a mistake?
