What if California goes bankrupt?

What would happen to the real estate in CA if the state goes bankrupt? Will that some how hit the housing market more and make the housing prices go down another 20 or 30%?

how do you represent yourself to stop a motion..what papers do i file? do I appear?

this is from a consumer loan company I filed bankruptcy on..now they are trying to put a lien on real estate I do not own…my ex wife does..i never received a summons or notification…just saw it online when looking something else up
the court action is against me in this case…she had already been notified that the loan co was going to garnish her wages for the loan (joint)..the divorce decree states I have to pay the loan..I couldn’t and filed BK …how can the loan co come after me? I have been told by attorneys to pay her the wages back she is having garnished…because of the ruling in the divorce
Isn’t it if I don’t answer this action although I have no summons…that they win by default? obviously they are not telling the courts I filed bk…

How can I end forced Escrow payments on a mortgage?

I hate my mortgage lender (Litton) they added an escrow to my monthly payments due to back taxes, but here’s the deal…my city tax never sent me a property tax bill and when I went to inquire my mortgage company had paid it off. How the city inform my mortgage company and not me? Anyway, now my mortgage company does not want to remove the escrow even if I pay the back taxes. This is "Cow Dung" believe me I’d like to say something else. What are my options? I’m frankly sick of this company and I’m sick of the house anyway. I have it for sale, but should I get a lawyer or file bankruptcy on the mortgage. That’s something I really don’t want to do. I already have one bankruptcy in the past, but I’m really sick of Litton and their high handed tactics. I pray to God they go bankrupt and get absorbed by another Company, they are really unreasonable. I have faithfully paid my mortgage, but I should not be screwed into paying more for an escrow I don’t need and I will be darned if I’m going to stay in a house I no longer want due to real estate decline in this bad economy.
I love how people like to add their 2 cents beyond the question being asked. Was I irresponsible in my youth? Yes and apparently half of america is financially irresponsible. I learned my lesson and I pay everything with cash. Unfortunately my taxes were a little behind but not delinquent, but I always pay my property taxes. However, my Mortgage may intervene. Whatever, happened recently I was left out of the loop and the city contacted my mortgage company instead of me, even though I was paying on my taxes. And furthermore I do not like my house or the environment so why should I remain in it? Things change. At one time I would have probably stayed or stayed longer. The house has been on the market for about a year and a half. I want nothing else to do with it and I don’t want to really rent it either. Though I’d choose that over foreclosure or bankruptcy.
Thanks lake lover. Although I don’t think its fair for the tax collector not to forward a tax notice. I have always got one in the past. This year I didn’t get a tax notice and when I went to inquire and pay on my bill, it seems like I got screwed.

How much cash out of my pocket up front to file Chapter 13?

I have been researching filing Chapter 13 bankruptcy, but have had estimates of cost anywhere from 0 to ,500. Nobody can seem to tell me until they start into the process. I know my case is fairly straightforward, I have no real estate or property to protect other than a car, and have other debts as well, but nothing unusual or elaborate.

I understand some of the fees are included in the Chapter 13 plan and paid over time.

I just want to know approximately how much I have to come up with in the beginning, out of my pocket, to file.

Does anyone have any real experience going through this, with the new laws the way they are now?

How do you remove recorded judgements after Chapter 7 bankruptcy case is discharged and closed?

I filed Chapter 7 and before we had the chance to remove the recorded Judgements, the court discharged the case and closed it. I wonder how to remove the judgements without re-opening the case. We know that the judgements were wiped out in the bankruptcy, but not sure how the recording can be voided and removed?
So if I attempt to purchase real estate in a couple of years, the escrow and title companies wouldn’t bother asking me to deal with those judgements???

When filing chapter 7, does one have to disclose a partial interest of Mexican real estate held in shelf corp?

Hi I’m writing a cool novel and I have a question for my research. If one of my California charactars files a chapter 7, does she have to disclose a partial ownership in real estate in Mexica, Costa Rica or similar country. The charactar bought the house in a shelf corporation years ago with cash saved from previous career. It is my understanding that these shelf corporations are private. Would the charactar technically have to disclose his foreign real estate holdings.
