I am making minimum payments with a few credit card companies but could have trouble paying these in the future. I don’t want to go through a debt consolidation company or a debt settlement company. Is it possible to call on my own and warn them I will file for bankruptcy and ask to settle before I stop paying for 30-90 days like most experts say? Can someone give me their advice or opinion on this? Thanks
I am in debt from helping my son when he was off work. Helping my elderly father. Also, my ex-husband was fired from his job and now we are divorcing. I am in so much debt that I am far behind on payments and I make too much money to file a chapter 7. I would have to file a chapter 13 and pay back a portion anyway. Would a debt settlement company be a better option?
Can someone please let me know the name to a credit card debt settlement company that does the right thing.
People state that a debt settlement company helps people in all their debt issues. What kind of debt settlement companies should we prefer?
I am currently enrolled in a reputable debt settlement company about a year into the 3 year process. One account has settled so far. One of my creditors is suing me, but the company is working hard to get it settled asap and I have responded to the court. I am not ignoring the summons just in case we can’t settle. I just want to know if anyone has gone through this process and cleaned up their debt for good. It is so stressful, but we were on the heels of bankruptcy and felt this was a good option for us to avoid bankruptcy.
I called creditsolutions a minute ago and they told me that they are not a consolidation company. I told them that I have a debt for 16,000. They told me that they can get my debt company to settle for 9,800. and they charge a 15% fee. Does this sounds okay. Please recommend me to some other company but not consolidation I do not want to consolidate I want a debt settlement company. That I would still pay, I heard when these consolidation company pays for me It haunts my credit score.
Please refer me to some website
my wife has a few credit cards in which she has about 6k in debt. then she took out her 401k in order to pay some off(which brought it down to 6k) and so we both got nothing back from our taxes and now we owe the irs 4k. then we got a car payment we are paying for which is another 6k. now we are trying to pay it off but its a lot and i need some ideas on how to pay this debt without bankruptcy or using a debt settlement company? i have debt too but its like 2k so i’m worried about hers first. i’m at my whits end and need some help please!
the car loan we have in not exactly a lein. i was sold a car on a bogus payment plan and we took out a loan to pay off mine while she used her car as colateral. so we are still paying this loan.
Laid off twice last year for several weeks, then this year for four months. Now back to work but haven’t paid credit card bills since September of 2008, with a credit settlement company, but not going good cause haven’t been employed. Even though back to work could I still file for bankruptcy?
I owe about 25,000 in loans and credit cards. The settlement company offered to settle for 15,000 over 3 years at 425 a month. My debtors keep calling and getting nasty. Should I stay with the settlement company?
I became divorced and was unable to pay even the minimum amounts. I used a debt settlement company who told me I could show insolvency and not have to claim the 5,000 as income. But I don’t know how to proceed.
Several years ago, I was under-employed and drowning in credit card debt. I chose to go the debt settlement route. I was never comfortable with the process. Recently, I have come into a sum of money which can eliminate that full amount of debt with no settlements. Since my credit score is fairly low already, should I take advantage of the relationship with the debt settlement company and pay less? Or would it be better for me, and my credit, to pay off the full amount?
I am considering using a debt settlement company but am concerned about the details.
People say approaching a debt settlement company would be a good choice to get relieved from debts. What kind of debt settlement companies should we choose?
My wife and I have settled 2 credit cards thru a debt settlement company with no problems. We are now in the process of settling hers, this is the last one. But, now it was sent to a law firm and now she has to go to court. We have a little saved up in our acct. w/ the settlement company. Was wanting to know if this has happened to anyone and if so, when you went to court were still able to pay off your debt when a settlement was reached or what.
What’s the best debt settlement company to go with? Not credit counseling but debt settlement.
What would happen if the creditor rejects the offer from debt Settlement Company regarding about my credit cards debt? Will I facing a law suit?
I was going to go with a debt settlement company, but I am getting way to nervous about it so I think I am not going to do it. For some reason my gut is telling me not to go with them. They want their fees first before they start working on my debt which makes me think they will just take their money and run.
So I was wondering can I settle my own debt with my credit card companies? I have been reading a lot of articles that say the credit card companies are willing to settle your debt for less now so they will still get paid some of it? What is the best way to do this…I would like to do it on my own so I don’t have to pay anyone else. That way I also know that my debts will definitely get paid off. One of the issues I have though is let’s say I have ,000 on a credit card and call them and they agree if I pay ,500 of it they will mark it as paid in full. I don’t have the 00 right away do you know will they let me pay the ,500 off without fees and over a payment plan? How does all of this work when you are trying to do it on your own?
As of right now I am 3-4 months behind on paying my cards off.
I had three payday loans worth 0. With intrest they were like 00. After my account went to collections, I kept telling them I am doing everything in my power to pay my loan off. Then when I had the lump sum, two of the companies both agreed to settle my accounts in full for the original amount of the loan, without all the interest and high fees. My one loan was 0 and they settled for 8. Then my other loan was 500 and they settled for 400. The debt settlement company wanted to charge 300 and then 50 bucks amount, so anything extra would be used towards the loan. It seems like it would have cost a lot more to use the payday loan settlement company. All they can do in the end is ask for a lower amount.
I am having to go through a program with a reputable debt settlement company and I understand I will get a 1099 at the end of the year after settlements are completed. I have extremely low income and was wondering if I would have to pay taxes on the savings?
Has anyone used a settlement company that worked for them, or not worked for them. If so please explain in some detail.
It seems like they dropped the ball. Can I stop paying the blance of the service fee and negotiate with the creditors by myself? or the debt settlement company still have the right to sue me or something?
thanks guys for helping. and again how do i complain to the state commerce dept? and how can I stop paying the blance and possible refund the service from them?
I really feel like this is my only option but I don’t know who to trust..if you have used a debt settlement company and it was a good experience please let me know
I own a debt settlement company and am sick of BS live transfers. I do not want to robodial (its ILLEGAL) so don’t bother saying that I should. I want TV leads because they seem to be the highest of quality lead type. I just don’t want to get ripped off…. Personal experiences welcome. Thx
I have a lot of debt and considering settling these debts without a debt settlement company. Their are many debt settlement programs that promise to save you 50% while other companies promise to save you up to 75% of total debt you owe. How can one company be better then the other, after all, in the end all they can do is negotiate and ask for a lower amount as settlement. I also bought a Ebook that teaches you how to settle credit card debts and payday loan debts on your own. It seems simple enough and contains all the letters that you need to send out and takes you step by step to settle your debt. Their are also many well written letters online. Sure they may be more experienced and save you an extra 0-0, but with the cost of the programs sometimes exceeding ,000, the amount you did save is just going towards the debt settlement program. I’m guessing that debt settlement program is for people that don’t want to dealer with creditors at all because they answer all the calls, send out all the letters such as debt validation letters, and do all the negotiating for you. Whats your opinion.
I have financial problems. I have two mortgages about 1million and credit card debt about 0K. I tried to sell my house to pay my debts. However, it’s on market about 6 months, no any offer. I don’t how to do-file bankrupcy or find credt settlement company to settle my debts. My friends told they are not useful to have settlement company deal with all creditors. Can someone can give me advise how to survive?
I am looking into settling my debt and know there are many fraudulent companies out there. So I would like to know if anyone has used a debt settlement company, if so, which company did you use, how long have you been paying off your debt with that company, and how is your experience overall with them. What were their fees for settling your debt? Any feedback would be GREAT!

I owe a substanstial amount on credit cards 30K which I can no longer make payment. There is this debt settlement company that says they will settle my account for %45 there fees included? It will be in a 3 year payment plan. Is this all some sort of a scam? Has anyone had experience with these types of companies?
Have searched and searched for a debt settlement company that has a good reputation of standing. So far, all seem have a lot of customer dissatisfaction. I never seem to read more than one or two compliments on any given company. Any way to find a legit one?
