My neighbor is threatening our lives and harassing us!?

Since we moved in (about 11 months), we’ve had our next door neighbor (zero lot) constantly harass us. He yells for hours on end between our properties with all kinds of racial slurs about how our types aren’t allowed in this country (I’m Jewish and my fiance is Vietnamese – He is African-American), threatening violence in very descriptive ways (stab you both in the heart with my knife and strangle your f*in dog), and even spray-painted a Swastika on the community sidewalk. These are nearly daily experiences and we have had the police out several times.

Police have been out at least a dozen times for this (not just myself calling), domestic disturbances, etc, and NOTHING is ever done. The police don’t care unless someone gets injured – and say there isn’t much we can do. In front of the police he even said that if we have him arrested he was going to shoot us in the heads when he gets out – yet the police aren’t taking it serious and won’t allow me to press charges when I asked they do for assault and trespassing. Even with Police as witness, they say I need it on video.

The H.O.A. and Builder says their hands are tied, and refuse to do anything and we feel stuck.

I really hope this great community can give sound, legal advice as to what we can do about this problematic and nuisance neighbor.

I really wish we could move, but we just purchased. If we move, it would cost us over K plus tax losses – and that would completely bankrupt us – with no place to live. We did interview him before we bought and he was super nice – but see that he just wanted to not have a vacant prop next to him – which would hurt his prop value.

The man seems mentally unstable and his threats are becoming more and more violent. At first it was the typical F*you, but now he is being very descriptive about how he wants to harm us. What I listed above is the most tame things I can mention without being censored – he has even said he was going to make my "chin$ B!t$$ suck his ****, while strangling her" and making me watch before he kills us both. He is absolutely dangerous and if he does have some mental disorder, makes him even more dangerous. – but of course, I don’t have this on video, so it’s our word (with witnesses) against his.

And when we do gang up, he says we’re just calling the police because he’s black and then the police back-off and leave. Then he continues with the violent threats.
Unfortunately, we can’t get a restraining order since it is zero-lot and the police said that they can’t enforce it even if we convinced a judge + he can repeal it too because of the zero-lot issue.

Also, we can’t move, because we would be homeless and bankrupt because of losses, taxes, commissions, etc.

How can I make profit via Internet?

Hi. I really want to know how can I make money out of the Internet…

I currently live in Mexico, I have about 5000 dollars to open up a little business. I considered opening an offline store, but I don’t really think I can do anything with the money I have, plus, I have no idea where to start a business, etc.
The major problem lies in that I’m actually really scared of opening a new business because my dad has gone bankrupt several times and that is something that may psychologically affect me very much as I don’t even have a business going on and I’m already afraid of going bankrupt… This is why I plan on opening an online store as it takes less money to open up and it takes relatively less loss if I go bankrupt.

I am planning to start little, along with my sister… We plan on these options:
Sell clothes.
Sell beauty care products.
Sell handmade objects.
Sell household appliances.

Which ones work best… I would like other options than what we plan on so we can broaden our ideas, plus for me this is very serious and I really need a regular profit out of it, not just like a hobby.

I’ve seen people make serious money out of the Internet, I wonder how they do. Any sincere opinions will be greatly appreciated… Thank you in advance.

Collecting my security deposit from a landlord that is going bankrupt?

Here’s the my situation:

1. I am about to finish a one year lease on 6/30/2010. My landlord recieved from me security deposit equal to 2 months of rent
2. My landlord is in the process of loosing the house we live in and also another house where she currently lives. She had claimed in past phone calls that the reason she is not paying her mortgage payments was only so the bank would talk to her about modifying her loans, and that she has plenty of month on the side.
3. For the last 4 months the house has been offered in a public auction at the city’s but for some unknown reason every time the house is up for sale, its auction date gets pushed by one months. I have heard these are common cases that happen when the landlord still negotiates with the bank.
4. I tried to contact my landlord 2 weeks ago several times (wrote emails, left voice mails, sent text messages) and asked whether she will be interested in extending the lease on a month-to-month basis. She has not replied to any of my messages.

Her lack of response makes it pretty clear she is not interested in extending the lease agreement, and her financial situation makes me very worried about my two months deposit.

My plan is not to pay her for the month of June and assume/hope she won’t start an eviction process since she knows we will leave the house when the lease ends. This way I will save at least 50% of my deposit.

I was even thinking of emailing her and letting her know we intend to leave the house at the end of June and schedule time for a walk-out inspection.

The house is in mint condition and identical to how we got it when we moved in (I have this documented in writing and in photos) but I still think she will give me hard times and won’t pay me back my deposit. Any advise on how to collect my other 50% deposit?

Any other tip or advise?
Isn’t her financial situation, the fact that the house have been offered in auction several times, a reason for me to claim that she won’t be able to pay me back the deposit (anticipatory breach of contract)?

Should I file bankruptcy?

Ok, I will take the blame for my credit problems. But over the past year I’ve been hospitalized several times and the combination of both credit card bills and hospital bills have accumulated quite a bit of debt. I work a job which is straight commission and because of the bad economy on top of the fact that I recently took a leave of absence from work and am collecting temporary disability I currently have about 50 dollars to my name.
I’m in a serious relationship now and want to straighten thisw mess up but I don’t have any money for a lawyer.
My question is should I file for bankruptcy? How do I file? Should I get a lawyer if I don’t have any money or should i represent myself?

How do I settle a debt if the lawyers have it and have served me papers to appear in court?

In November of 2006 my 00 debt with chase bank went into collections. A year later I called a lawyer who told me that if I haven’t been taken to court yet I probably would not. Well almost 3 years later and after the debt has been sold several times, I am being sued by lawyers representing North American Recovery Corp. I was told by Forward Properties (findaccount@gmail.com) that the current owner of my debt was the lawyers and gave me their phone number. I was served papers by the local sheriffs office and am supposed to appear in court on Sept. 24th. The first set of papers said that both parties had to appear on court and then i got a letter from the attorneys today stating they requested from the judge if they could be absent and do a phone conference while I still had to go to court. Is there any way to settle this if the lawyers have it and avoid going to court? The initial balance I owed on the account was just shy of 00.00 and the rest is all late charges and interest. I’m not sure how to attack this, who I should call etc etc, without incurring lawyer expenses of my own. I don’t have a number to contact North American Recovery Corp and cannot find one anywhere on the web. The one search that came up for that name was for another North American Recovery and they said there is another one out there. The debt is orig. from ohio and I now live in florida. Please help me with this headache.

Can a bank withdraw money out of your account to settle a debt?

I have a checking account with Chase Bank and they withdrew all of my money out of my checking account. I called them and they said that I owe them money from a previous checking account that I had with another bank (First Bank of Chicago) that Chase purchased. They said I owe them 0 from the year 2005; and they will continue to withdraw money out of my account until it is paid in full. I asked them to prove this debt several times and they refused. Is this legal?
Can they withdraw money out of your savings account also?

Is it better to settle a credit card debt or pay it off fully if its already on your credit report?

I have a good job now, and make pretty good money. I got all my college credit cards paid off, except for one. I was told that I can "settle" that credit card debt for approximately 0 less than what the full balance is (settle the ,100 debt for about ,650 if I paid in full). Problem is: I can afford to pay in full the whole ,100…it is already on my credit report as negative because of it being delinquent so much (several times in about 3 years with no payment on the debt for 3-4 months). Someone told me if I settle for less, it will be worse on my credit report. But if its already negative…what is the better option? Keep in mind also that I closed the account about 2 years ago. Should I pay it off fully, or just settle and save money? Will it ever show up as positive on my credit report? Or just as "closed/paid off" status. Which is better? Sorry about all the parts to my question! :) Please help!!

I have a debt of 18,000 and some change with NCO collection agency do you think they will take 5,000 to settle?

If I offer them 5,000 dollars to settle the debt are they likely to accept it and close my account. I have been paying the small payments several times a month for about a year. They offered me a settlement of 14,000 which I don’t have.
