If you won 0 Million dollars in the state Lottery and your state went bankrupt, but they were supposed to be paying you a little bit each month for the next 35 years, what would happen?
The state of MI has a situation like this now.
They have no jobs and the state has an idiot for a governor and they have cut a lot of programs in MI to save money, including the state lottery.
This makes no sense to me, because, the lottery was there to MAKE money. Now they got rid of it! WTF!
Any way, if I had won a large sum of money and the state shuts down the lottery, but they were going to pay me 0 Million or so over the next 30 years, but I just won Yesterday and today, they decide to get rid of the Lottery and they file bankruptcy, do they still owe me the money?
If so, how would they pay me now, if there is no money coming in to the lottery or where ever I won it from?
I would not be too happy about that. Because, when you file bankruptcy, it usually cancels out most of your bills, with a few exceptions.

Please do not refer me to a website or attorney. I have already explored those options. I am asking for real-world experience from people who have dealth Cash Call. I took a 5k loan out with Cash Call. I paid back around 3k. I ran into some financial difficulties and could not pay for awhile. After I could pay again, I contacted them to make payment arrangement on the balance of the load. They wanted me to pay something like 0 a month for an additional 00 (on top of the 3k I paid already). I could not afford that. Well, now they are trying to garnish my check for a large sum of money that is more than double the amount of what I paid back and owe them. My question is, has anyone out there ever dealt with Cash Call and made a settlement of any kind that is reasonable? Folks, my time to deal with this is short, so please spare me the nightmare stories. I only want to hear from people that think they made a pretty good settlement with Cash Call. Thank you.

I received a letter from Cohen and Slamowitz, a law firm, notifying me that my creditor (citibank) has referred my account to their office for collection. They state that I have 30 days to ask them to validate the debt.
I am planning on sending them a letter to validate the debt, but I am considering offering them a settlement amount to clear the debt.
By offering them a settlement offer (a take it or leave it), does that in effect validate the debt and validate the fact that I owe this money? If we cannot settle, and this ends up going to court, will the fact that at one point in the process I offered to pay them a sum of money to settle the account hurt me and will they use this as evidence that I in fact owe all this money?
Any tips or answers to my problem will be appreciated. Thank you.
The debit is relatively new… it is credit card debt and I defaulted in April or May I believe….

My mother recently inherited a sum of money from a family member that passed away this past year. She has told me that despite the inheritance she and my father will have to file for bankruptcy. She has no income and my father only get’s Social Security Disability checks in the amount of 00 a month which they currently use to keep up their home and vehicles. Can someone file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in this situation?

Several years ago, I was under-employed and drowning in credit card debt. I chose to go the debt settlement route. I was never comfortable with the process. Recently, I have come into a sum of money which can eliminate that full amount of debt with no settlements. Since my credit score is fairly low already, should I take advantage of the relationship with the debt settlement company and pay less? Or would it be better for me, and my credit, to pay off the full amount?

I owe a large amount on my credit card and have not made a payment in sometime. I now have a lump sum of money and wanted to see if the cc company would negotiate on the amount owed. Much of that amount is late fees. Can anyone help me?

I have a friend who recently won a large sum of money by becoming a champion on "Wheel of Fortune." He won over ,000, which is well above what he makes in an entire year. However, this is a guy who is well known for his extravagent spending. I’m thinking this money won’t last very long. That made me wonder if this sort of thing happens to many game show contestants who walk away with lots of money. Any thoughts?
