Wisconsin teachers are paid an average of ,000 in wages and benefits. And they don’t want to work. NFL players are multimillionaires and are demanding more. In both cases, the unions produce nothing.

We have free enterprise in the auto industry, world wide. Cars sell for a low of ,500 to a high of one million dollars. There are so many to pick from that I cannot keep track of them all. Because of unions, the government had to bail out US auto industries to keep them from going bankrupt.

My thinking is . That the people make too much money. Average 75 dollars an hour. They have the unions to fight for them.That cost a lot.They have big payout to their retirees. Why can’t they take a cut in pay? Get rid of the unions. have all the upper management take no bonuses. There is so much they could do to cut cost. My brother worked there for 3 years and was given 100 thousand dollars and a free car. This was fine and dandy till they couldn’t afford it anymore.

All the money they could have saved ,could be used to making fuel friendly cars at lower prices. Why by a ford,gm or chrysler, when it cost you more and the product is worse than the foreign cars?. You are paying 30 more per hour to get your domestic car. This is one side and I realize there are some benefits to helping them.I will write that latter. Plz don’t get offended I just want to hear all sides to this story.
Carguy I thought it was lower also. Today it was reported on cnn that the average was 75 per hour while `Japanese cars were 45.per hour. Like I said I know there is another side to this story. My family worked for GM and I am just saying what it feels like for people who do not have such cushy benefits. You know you would rather got down to 50 dollars and hour than not have a job at all.

Not just Walmart but other business as well. (please no ranting, just logical common sense answer)

Americans really don’t like being told by big brother how to run their life, would you consider this an infringement? Why?

The cost of living will go through the roof. Discount stores will not be able to offer discounts.

Many businesses will go bankrupt and people will be out of work.
(look what happened to Detroit).

Many people don’t want unions and don’t want strikes by their employees which disrupt everyone ( EX: traffic controller strikes)

Not to mention Union members can’t pay their bills when they strike.

America is a country based on debt, your debt the national debt its all the same! You cant control your own silly spending but when politicians do it you feign surprise? You were not surprised when the new highway was paved or when supplies came in after the disaster. You were not surprised when the local bums collected their food stamps and WIC, or even when the SSI wagon came around for all of the illegitimate kids "payments". But now, after all these years, because we’re at the edge of financial collapse you act like the last guy with the pocketbook caused the problem.

Also, how can someone honestly look you in the eyes and with a straight face tell you health care needs to be passed and needs to be passed now? We pass it, we go bankrupt and guess what? No health care for anyone at all.

Anyone with a rational, logical mind would focus on the economy, get people working again. Then focus on such things such as health care.

Your health insurance industry adds about .500 dollars to the price of every car made in USA over the cost of a car made in a country with socialized health insurance.

It is increasingly likely that GM won’t be able to restructure adequately, and will be forced into bankruptcy. They are making deals with unions and the government, and handing out ownership stakes with (I think) preferred shares. However, there are also millions of common stock shares out there (currently valued around ). Won’t those shares go to {content}.00 if the company enters chapter 11 protection?

It doesn’t mean they’d go away – they’d just be restructured, hopelfully without the union control that is the cause of their failure – a microcosm of socialism. The big 3 are thriving in other countries, but because of decades of liberal union control, not only are the companies in trouble, but so is the whole state of Michigan. Should the unions be eliminated, like Reagan did with Air Traffic Controllers for the public safety, for the good of the country and Michigan jobs?

The UAW union has stopped the bailout of the autoworkers and now theres a chance the automakers will go bankrupt…Hmm guess the UAW will love their UNEMPLOYED workers then huh. The Unions are the reason US Autoworkers arent competitive Forcing companies to pay their workers 2 to 3x More than the Forgien Makers .. How Are Us makers supposed to compete with that?
