What happens if I say I'm going to file bankruptcy, but don't do it?

I decided a few months ago to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy. I hired an attorney in late December and informed all my creditors. I have only heard from one on and off since then.

I have had a temp job since mid-December, but I think it ends in the next week or two. I have enough now to do the bankruptcy…however, what if I just never did it? I have no open credit cards nor needs for credit. Will the agencies start calling me again eventually?

If you don’t file the bankruptcy, the creditors can and will sue you, get a default judgement against you, garnish wages and or bank accounts up to 100%….The old saying, you can run but you can’t hide falls true, they will find you..they will find where you work, they will find bank accounts. Trust me…been there done that…..you aren’t any smarter than the debt collectors, they have there way of getting the money owed to them. Good Luck!

nothing will happen as long as your credit stays the same they are none the wiser

yes they will ..since u didnt finish the bankrupcy, u still owe them and once they relize u didnt finish the filing, they will be on your backagain.
You will eventually need credit to buy a car, house, unexpected bills…its better to either pay your cards off or start with a clean slate.

they may charge off the debt from collection but it will remain on your credit report; your credit report charge-offs can show up when you try to get a job, get insurance, a loan, a mortgage, a car etc ; just because you can’t pay it doesn’t mean that you don’t owe it ; people who don’t pay their bills end up costing us all in the long run ; some may call you down the road b/c a collection agency does not get paid until they collect ; at least if you file for bankruptcy the debt is formally discharged and you aren’t always looking over your shoulder but push comes to shove; that shows up on your credit report 7-10 years is a long time to have mud in your face every time you try to improve your life
