Who will re-pay the bail out loan if the Auto Manufacturers go bankrupt?
If the cars are not better quality, affordable & fuel efficient enough no one will purchase them. There are too many affordable used cars & quality imports.

We the taxpayers will end up paying for bailing out .Some how some way there needs to be a meeting of the minds .The big three with the Uaw have been burying their heads in the sand for the past thirty years, building gas hogs ,boat anchors and tanks.remember back in the mid seventies when fuel was released by odd and even numbers on your vehicles. We have had a condescending attitude like this stuff would never touch us .If we lend them any money we should put conditions on it being for the big three to start making better quality vehicles with more alternative fuels so that we are using less foreign oil and more of our own fuels .We have alot of smart people why don’t we use them.

December 23rd, 2009 at 4:38 pmHey! No risk, no gain.
And I am sorry to say but since 2000, US cars have beeen as good as most Japanese cars for quality.
And I get better fuel efficiency from my Ford Focus that I ever got with a Japanese car. Last June in a rented Chevy Cobalt I got 41.6 MPG HWY on a drive from LA to Vegas. if that is not good fuel economy for a non-hybrid car, I do not know what is.
