Why does the government settle tax debts for pennies. What about all us people who pay our taxes in full?
I pay all my taxes every year. Always have. But some people earned more money than they could afford and ran up huge tax bills which they now say they cannot pay. The government and the IRS apparently have programs to reduce the amount of taxes there people owe. HOW IS THAT FAIR TO THE REST OF US?!?!?!?
Hey all you "life is not fair" folks: Do you feel the same way about people who bought houses they couldn’t afford and now want to change their mortgages?
Can’t get money from a rock. taxes are settled on people who do not have the ability now or in the future to pay….either through lack of income and or assets…..despite the ads may hear it is very hard to get an offer in compromise accepted. If they find out you lied used fraud….and do have the ability to pay….it can be rescinded.
July 19th, 2010 at 9:59 amIt isn’t fair but something is better than nothing I guess..
July 19th, 2010 at 9:59 amI don’t know either, we should do the same as them and not pay them. That way we get a settlement huh?????
July 19th, 2010 at 9:59 amThe government settles tax debts for pennies on the dollar because collecting some money is better than collecting no money.
July 19th, 2010 at 9:59 amMy daddy always said that life isn’t fair.
July 19th, 2010 at 9:59 amand if you decide to not pay your taxes to get a sweet settlement deal then that will be the time that they deal out the ultimate punishment. Just your luck.
July 19th, 2010 at 9:59 amThere’s nothing fair about capitalism. Capitalism is dog eat dog, the rich get richer while the poor get poorer. That’s America.
July 19th, 2010 at 9:59 amWhoa. Your pretty upset huh?
July 19th, 2010 at 9:59 amWell ever hear the phrase "Life isnt fair"?
It’s "fair" because getting something from them is better than getting nothing.
Actually, not fair … but good. There’s a difference.
Otherwise, hey, just remember: No good behavior goes unpunished.
July 19th, 2010 at 9:59 amIs probably cheaper to do that and allow the person to recover to later tax them.
