Will America go bankrupt someday because of the health cost, according to David Walker’s statement in TV show?

It probably on David Letterman’s To Night Show, David Walker, the US chief comptrollar or the chief of US government Accountability depatment stated that one thing can bankrupt America is the health cost. What the future Democrat or Republican should do?

If we can get people to set up a national health care system like they have in England, France and Canada, then their is hope for our health care system. National health care means we don’t have to pay astronomical profits to sleazy health insurance companies. But, we also need to regulate the prices of prescription medicines in order for America not to go bankrupt.

Entitlements programs do take a large % of the budget, and we are a aging country. The problem is we are all paying for the uninsured. I went to the ER, and after 8 hours and $8,000 dollars it was determent I had kidney stones. I read the bill and it clearly stated that cost of my paper gown was 84 cents, but they had to charge my insurance $85.00 to defray the cost of the uninsured. That is the problem

There seems to be this feeling we can pay for a ten billion dollar a month war, and thats fine and dandy, but we can’t take care of sick people.
Most candidates are talking of giving a universal health care insurance, not just paying for everyone out of pocket. Yes taxes will be higher on an individual basis, but businesses won’t have to pay what they do now, and individuals won’t, and we would all have health care which improves the work force and makes us all healthier as we won’t have people walking around sick and spreading germs.
How do all the other industrialized countries manage not to go under? Is the US so much less sophisticated that the rest of them that their citizens have health care and we don’t?
