Will Detroit Lions fans finally just boycott this team until they go bankrupt?

Giving an unproven quarterback million guaranteed that is not named Peyton Manning, Brett Farve, Tom Brady or Eli Manning is insane. Especially given their track record. They should’ve used the pick on Curry, and shored up their line with quality talent.

What are they thinking? Seriously, Detroit fans, get together and boycott. Let’s see a sea of empty seats at the games. Don’t support this garbage.

Come on now, what did you expect him to get paid? Seriously…he’s a number one pick and Matt Ryan was a number three pick. Matt Ryan got a deal for 6 yrs/72 millions dollars with 34.75 mil guaranteed. When he was picked…people were saying the same thing, that the Falcons should have went O-Line and Ryan won’t do good in the NFL…everything that’s being said about the Lions and Stafford. Not saying Stafford will come in and be a Matt Ryan, but obviously that’s what expectations are. Therefore a 6 yr/78 mil contract with 41 mil guaranteed isn’t crazy. Playing the same position, going 2 picks higher, and one year later…that’s right on par for what he should have gotten based on the previous standard.

But please understand what I mean by that…not saying he deserves that much money, or that Ryan deserved the amount he got. Just saying that when the Falcons signed Matt Ryan to that contract…they set a bar. Now of course Stafford would wanna be compensated in that way. Much like if McCoy or Bradford become the number one pick next year…their contract will slightly outdo Staffords. Just the way it is.

do they still have any fans?

the worst team in the league use to be tossed out of the league,
what is keeping the lions in it?

Even more to the point the Lions do not have an offensive line. Tell me what good is a franchise QB when the second the ball is hiked he is running for his life. No QB is good if they do not have to time to throw the football period.

I am a Georgia Bulldogs fan, but I think Stafford is a HUGE risk.

He put up good numbers last year, and has great physical ability. That said, his biggest three games last year, he got whacked (Alabama, Florida, and Georgia Tech). Two of those games were at home, and the other was on a "neutral" field. I think he’ll be a bust in the NFL.

Tom Brady didn’t go in the first round.

All of those QB’s were a risk at the time with the same questions you are asking right now.

That is the price of the number one pick this year. Doesn’t matter if it is him, or one of the other guys they talked to. That is the price tag.

As a former Lions fan I was disgusted at their draft. They let Perry and two middle linebackers just slip through their fingers.

I will be boycotting the Lions until Ford sells the team. Obviously he is unable to find a staff that is capable of putting together a winning team. Even if the Lions manage a winning season in 3 years (earliest time possible) I will still boycott them.

What a horrible, horrible franchise. Thank God for the Red Wings.
