Seriously...he's a number one pick and Matt Ryan was a number three pick. Matt Ryan got a deal for 6 yrs/72 millions dollars with 34.75 mil guaranteed. When he was picked...people were saying the same thing, that the Falcons should have went O-Line and Ryan won't do good in the NFL...everything that's being said about the Lions and Stafford. Not saying Stafford will come in and be a Matt Ryan, but obviously that's what expectations are. Therefore a 6 yr/78 mil contract with 41 mil guaranteed isn't crazy. Playing the same position, going 2 picks higher, and one year later...that's right on par for what he should have gotten based on the previous standard. But please understand what I mean by that...not saying he deserves that much money, or that Ryan deserved the amount he got. Just saying that when the Falcons signed Matt Ryan to that contract...they set a bar. Now of course Stafford would wanna be compensated in that way. Much like if McCoy or Bradford become the number one pick next year...their contract will slightly outdo Staffords. Just the way it is. Come on now, what did you expect him to get paid? He put up good numbers last year, and has great physical ability. That said, his biggest three games last year, he got whacked (Alabama, Florida, and Georgia Tech).
